18:15 - 20:00Let's Lift the Curfew 2026: join us for a special session
Tonight we're joining forces with This Girl Can and their Let's Lift the Curfew campaign.
When the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, millions of women across the UK will once again see their world get smaller as the nights get darker.
Safety concerns affect where they go, when they go, who they go with and whether they can be active outdoors at all.
Whether shaped by past experiences, stories they've heard, or not feeling comfortable or confident in a particular place after dark, many women are unable to be active outdoors or use public spaces in the same way that men do.
In fact, nearly three-quarters (72%) of women in the UK change their outdoor activity routines during winter. Let's Lift the Curfew challenges this reality to ensure no woman has to change where, when or how she gets active because of safety concerns.
You can read about, and complete, GoodGym's own training on this issue here.
Tonight's Task
We'll be heading to St Nicks Nature reserve for a spot of bramble digging
We'll be using hand tools, so please bring gardening gloves if you have them.
Please wear a headtorch as it will be dark
WHERE WE MEET 🎒
We will be meeting outside the Ackhorne Pub on St Martin’s Lane, YO1 6LR (just off Micklegate). We can leave our bags and valuables in their office, which is secure.
🚲There is cycle parking nearby on both Micklegate and at the Priory Street Centre (as you approach the centre a 10 bay covered cycle parking is to the left in the car park) On street parking is available on Priory Street. These are all only a couple of minutes walk to the new meeting point.
RUNNING AND WALKING WITH US 👏
GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities. If you prefer to walk let us know and we can arrange a walking group.
👍We always have a back-marker too so nobody will get left behind - no matter what your pace is. If running isn’t for you we can do x cycling group to this task. Please let us know if you’d like this option. Or you are always welcome to meet us there.
POST-RUN SOCIAL 🍻
We will finish the group session back at The Ackhorne Pub on St Martin's Lane so why not stay for some liquid refreshment and a good chat?
