Cooking up a feast for FoodCycle Walker
Transforming surplus food into a free 3-course meal for local community members!
Location
Date and time
17:30 - 20:00Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.
Join us from 5:30pm on 19th March at FoodCycle Walker. We will be transforming surplus food into a free three course meal for local community members! The food we use would go to waste if we weren't there to turn it into something delicious. All volunteers will be fed too!
Being able to eat a good meal with good company to alleviate loneliness and get people talking is just as important as helping with hunger, homelessness and poverty to FoodCycle. The meal is for whoever needs it most, which includes people that could afford it otherwise but want company.
On the night our jobs will include:
Weighing the food, deciding on a menu, cooking and serving, eating/talking with guests if possible, cleaning up
If you are coming to join us for this great task, please sign up to host or cook (doesn't matter which, jobs can be changed on the night) on the 19th and pass the very easy food safety module (which it doesn't actually let you fail).

Volunteers can arrive from 5:30. We will aim to serve the first meal at 6:30 and aim to be cleaned up and out of there by 8. You can come and go whenever you like - don't feel like you have to stay for the entire meal if you have places to be!
How are you getting there?

This Community Mission in now cancelled, please see below message from Maddy:
"You may have seen the email from Ivo about the cancellation of community missions this week whilst they update guidelines/rules on these for the coming months. This means I am having to cancel FoodCycle Walker as a GG community task and it will be taken off the website today or tomorrow.
HOWEVER, FoodCycle Walker is still running the meal on Thursday and needs well volunteers to help cook and host the meal, as community members would still benefit from a free meal (perhaps now more than ever!) Ed at GG HQ has encouraged us to still go as a FoodCycle volunteer - it just won't go down as a GG good deed.
So if you don't have any covid-19 symptoms, are not high risk, and would still like to attend then please do.
If you are coming and haven't signed up on the FoodCycle website and done the very short training, then please ensure you do so before Thurs eve. If you are not coming, please can you un-sign up on the FoodCycle website!"
