Haymill Nature Reserve Support
Improve the environment

Date and time
10:00 - 13:00This session is our monthly collaboration with the Friends of Haymill Nature Reserve and Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust.
We will meet at the usual venue - outside No 1 Littlebrook Ave at 10am. Please bring suitable clothing and wellies if possible (if not wellies then waterproof boots will be fine).
Our main project will be to rebuild / reinforce the dam at the northern end of the Reserve if the ground / riverbed is not too soggy.
If the above is not possible then I would like to complete the natural dam we started last year next to the reedbed. ( The task owner will bring waders)
The other main task will be to continue to clear the reedbed of vegetation using hand scythes and slashers etc. One of the main reasons for doing this is to further de-nutrify the reedbed making it less suitable for the invading stinging nettles and better for the reeds and sedges we are encouraging.
There will also be a couple of spades available and if there is time we will start the process of clearing our dug water channels.
There may be a little bit of path clearance to do plus of course some litter-picking.
Tea and coffee will be provided as usual. For anyone new to this group we will be stopping for a tea break around 11.30 - all necessaries being supplied and we finish just before 1pm.
If you can't be there for the whole 3 hours that's not a problem - stay as long as you can.
We meet by the reserve entrance near No 1 Littlebrook Ave SL2 2NW at 10am and have a tea break at 11.30
