Induction session 1: ahead of supporting Friends of Raynes Park station with jobs at the station
Support with beautifying the station and surrounding area.
Location
Raynes Park stationCoombe Lane, Raynes Park
London
SW20 0JY
Date and time
19:30 - 20:15The station manager and Liz from Friends of Raynes Park station will meet with the team to go through an induction at the station to ensure everyone is adequately briefed on health and safety matters relating to supporting as a volunteer in the area around the station, platforms and embankment.
We will be meeting with Liz (who will be wearing a pink hi-vis SWR jacket) outside Starbucks (very near to the tunnel and Raynes Park station entrance for platforms 1 and 2).
Please bring a notepad and pen to take notes. There will be a short Q & A session at the end. The summary of the HOT and WHAT protocols which is the basis of the Security Briefing will be sent to you directly following sign up - if you are able to read this in advance it will help.
Points to note - There are very strict rules in place about alcohol and drug consumption. If consumption has taken place within the last 12 hours, volunteers are not permitted onto the railway premises. - Suitable clothing is required e.g. enclosed shoes (no sandals), trousers (no shorts), long sleeves preferred and obviously no high heels, swimwear, dangling jewellery, skate boards, scooters etc. - Do bring glasses if you wear them, long and short distance in case you have to enter a code to open a door or to see a train coming down the track from a distance. We also ask volunteers to wear their hearing aids.
Liz will show us around platforms 3 and 4 afterwards if time permits, so we can see the work that Friends of Raynes Park Station have been doing recently.
NOTE that our first session helping Friends of Raynes Park station after the induction is complete is is likely to involve moving soil/compost up the stairs to the platform but there will be other adhoc jobs to support with from time to time so we have arranged 2 induction sessions to allow as many Goodgymers to get involved as possible.
