Naturescape Oxford
Naturescape is a designed garden for family-centred play and learning, for community or workplace wellbeing and enjoyment. It is designed with the following key ingredients: Place – a sense of belonging to a community People – a community with wide reaching cultural diversity Plants – which are so important for education, survival and beauty Play – relaxation, an essential for healthy human development and wellbeing. Drawing on the philosophy of the Forest School movement and the inspiration of local people, the naturescape will be home for various groups that support outdoor play, exploration, and interaction with natural elements such as water, fire and vegetation. The focus is on developing confidence and self-esteem through creative and hands-on experiences in a natural setting

We have been asked to provide some much needed help at a community garden for prison visitors at HMP Bullingdon in Bicester

The garden is NOT situated within the prison

Nature effect (who we have worked with on Kate’s Place in Florence Park) need help maintaining the garden, making it a welcoming and calm space for visitors and families.

The PACT Visitor Centre is where families and friends register before they go in for a prison visit. The garden is out the back. Often people travel quite long distances and will be on site for several hours before they go over to the prison. The garden is designed for well being, relaxation and nature connection and is a family space for kids to explore and be active. They can let ff some steam and it provides a breathing space of calm and nature to reduce stress levels because visiting can be traumatic for all involved.

The gate to the garden is behind the visitors centre. There is plentiful parking next to the centre.

More details of the space can be found here.

We will be mulching, weeding and generally helping to maintain the space.

All tools will be provided and there will be a couple of members of the Nature Effect team working with us too.

Please bring gardening gloves if you have them.

We will figure out travel logistics!!
