Welcome to GoodGym Newcastle

We're a friendly and social group that combines exercise with helping out local charities and community groups. Every Monday evening we meet to get active and do a physical task to make a difference in the Newcastle area. The GoodGym motto is 'Do Good, Get Fit'.

This task on November 2nd

This is an opportunity to help NUFC Fans’ Foodbank to raise money to help them support families across the city. Come and help this great cause and enjoy the atmosphere as Newcastle United take on Everton.

The collection begins two hours before the game, so we will be meeting at Stepney Bank Stables from 5:30pm. PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER THAN USUAL START TIME. We will leave at 5:40pm prompt. The running or cycling distance will be about 1.4 miles, or 2.25km, each way. For anyone that cannot make the earlier start time, please feel to meet us at St James' Park at around 6pm. There will unfortunately be no walking option from Stepney Bank Stables given the timings. You do NOT need to stay until kick-off at 8pm. Previous NUFC Fans' Foodbank collections have ended several minutes before kick-off. Feel free to depart at any time.

Where we meet

We’ll be meeting at Stepney Bank Stables, NE1 2NP. There’ll be GoodGymers in the reception area, look out for the red or black GoodGym t-shirts if you are new! Stepney Bank Stables has a free car park if you are driving there, but walking, running, cycling or using public transport is recommended.

At Stepney Bank Stables you can leave bags and valuables in the staff room, which is able to be locked and is secure. We also have access to the toilet facilities in the building.

Participating at GoodGym Newcastle

GoodGym is for absolutely everyone aged 18 and above. We welcome runners of all abilities, including absolute beginners or those returning from injury. Unless otherwise stated, there will be a walking option at Monday group runs. Occasionally we will be visiting somewhere further afield, when running, cycling or meeting at the location will be the only realistic options. The listing on our website will clearly state this.

There will always be a back marker and/or walk leader on every run or walk to a task, so nobody will ever get left behind - no matter what your pace is.
