Who this task will support
The White House
The White House, was set up in 2016 on Dagenham’s Becontree estate by Create London. We invite artists to live and work in the house, exploring new ways to collaborate with the local community, by becoming their neighbours. We host a public programme led by residents that ranges from poetry to painting to gardening. Our programme acts as a tool to address social, political and culturally relevant issues to our site and community, adopting approaches that challenge traditional hierarchies and aim to democratise decision-making across programming and how we run the house.

GoodGym B&D have been invited back to complete our second session at the The White House garden. Check out the Insta reel from our first session to get a feel for what to expect

Until recently a derelict 18th century farmhouse, in 2016 The WhIte House transfomed into a public space for art and social activity, hosting a public programme from poetry to painting to gardening.

Join us at this fascinating location to complete some hands on, practical tasks to help enhance the garden for residents to enjoy activities and events this Summer.

🧤 What We’ll Do

  • Lifting and moving some heavier items ready to be removed from the garden

  • Some lighter maintanence tasks (weeding, cutting back overgrowth etc.)

  • Preparing the large shed for painting
