Last night we headed back to the scout hut to finish Project Paint Fence!
Myself & Leanne met at the usual waterfront point on a very hot Wednesday evening to run to the scout hut โ.
Once we were there, we got the paint out and cracked on with painting the fence whilst chatting away - a nice break from running in the heat! Between the 2 of us we soon completed the fence that we started a few weeks ago, so it was fab to see the finished result ๐ช๐ป.

*This weekend marked the UK's biggest volunteering weekend - the Big Help Out 2026 ๐ช๐ป *
Us GoodGymmers did our bit for this and helped out at junior parkrun on this lovely sunny Sunday โ๏ธ. The three of us - myself, Leanne and Ella met at Christchurch park, where we were greeted by the parkrun team who gave us our high vis to marshal on the course ๐ณ. There were lots of us volunteers this morning which was great to see and a whole lot of runners! Enjoyed marshalling & cheering them all on ๐ฅณ
Big shoutout to Ella for completing her first GoodGym mission! Welcome to the GoodGym family โค

The weather was kind to us this morning for a trip to a new venue.. Buttons & Bows nursery โ๏ธ
Myself & Tia laced up our trainers and made our way over to the nursery, where we were met by Anne who showed us what we were needed for. Much to our surprise, we were lending a hand with some DIY which made a fun change! We had the task of putting together some outdoor steps for the children, so Tia grabbed the screwdriver & I held the pieces together whilst the screws went in ๐ฉ. Before long, the steps were assembled and ready to be used. We finished off our time at the nursery with tearing up the cardboard boxes to fit into the recycling. A successful morning out and enjoyed ourselves!

Summer has arrived just in time for our Thursday group run!
Myself, Leanne and Miles met at the waterfront to run uphill to the 31st/9th scout hut. And for the first time this year, we didn't need a base layer, hooray! โ
We met Prakash at the task and the 4 of us got stuck into painting the outside fence, which we started last week. We got a lot done in an hour and it was nice to catch up with everyone after the rain put a dampener on our plans last week โ๏ธ. Ending with a lovely warm run home downhill, as the sun was starting to set ๐ .
Thanks to Leanne for the photos this week!

Wet weather meant a slightly different Thursday run this week!
Due to heavy rain during the day & rain forecasted in the evening, it meant we were unable to return to the scout hut to finish painting the fence that we started last week โ๏ธ.
I headed out for a 5k around the waterfront instead, where the sun decided to break through for the duration โ๏ธ! Managing to just about get home before the rain returned. Hoping for better weather next week so we can continue our great work on the fence.

Thursday evening has rolled around again and the 3 of us were back at the scout hut!
Myself, Miles and Leanne met at the waterfront ready to run and made our way up the ol' favourite Back Hamlet hill towards the scout hut.
Today's task involved painting again (which we now have great skills in from painting the hall!), but this time we were outside painting the fences surrounding the hut. An hour later and we had made a good dent in the fence and it was looking fresher than ever ๐๐ป, with some of us covered in a few more paint splatters than others! ๐ซ
We then headed home, accompanied by a beautiful sunset on a lovely clear evening ๐ . We will be back to finish the fencing so why not join us on our next one?
