Where are the scotch pancakes, instant mash potato and baby wipes? Never had I known the variety of canned soup, frozen meals or shower gel, until I started volunteering here. While shopping at a supermarket might not be the most rigorous physical workout, it is always a good brain teaser! This morning the sun was out with a warm breeze. It was delightful to walk from my home to the supermarket. (I didn't run as I just had breakfast.) I was greeted by AgeUK coordinator Terry upon arrival, and off I went to my first trolley/ order of the day. Over the course of 2 hours, I completed 4 trolleys of shopping taking me to all corners of Tesco picking up items not usually on my own shopping list. It was fun as always and I was pleased to see and chat with Lily, another GoodGym volunteer!

I arrived at the Tesco Superstore in Surrey Quays to booming 90s pop hits and promptly waltzed around collecting, everything apart from the raspberry greek sensations yogurt on my list. Really lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Lots of volunteers were also happily busy, filling their trolleys and ticking items off their lists for Age UKxFood2You. Super satisfying. Would recommend this one, especially if you have 20mins to spare.

Sam met up with Terry and a few Food2You volunteers to tackle the line of trolleys that needed to be filled with people's shopping.
Like the game; Supermarket Sweep, we had to hunt for the items in Tesco's Surrey Quays Shopping Centre.
The first trolley was easy, but further on the lists of other shoppers got more extensive and it took longer. However, in the two hours, Sam managed to fill five trolleys.

People are preparing for the Christmas shopping via Food2You/Age UK. 3 Goodgymers showed up to support the shopping. The shopping lists were long and short but we finished on time.
The delivery vans were ready to leave to deliver the goods.

A scrub is a guy who can't get no love from me...but is also a session at Food2You's HQ on the last Thursday afternoon of the month. Yet, not much scrubbing was needed this month as Louise found out. Instead they got her to wrap up presents and make warm packs for members of the community. Lots of TLC given.

1 wonderful goodgymer cycled to Surrey Quay tesco to help filling the trolleys for food2U clients.
It was fantastic to return to one of my favourite tasks. Shopping for those in need. Here, we don't do pay, just lift and drop listed items in trolleys arranged at the back of the super store.
Goodgymers, you are all missed and needed! This amazing organisation is running low on volunteers.
This task usually finishes in an hour if there are a few pairs of extra hands. Please come and help, as much as you can.
