More parkrun joy

Saturday 25th October

Written by Karen Whitehead

Its always great to support our local parkrun, and even though we were small in numbers (one GoodGymer to be precise) we were still big in impact. Karen was Run Director today, and was in the park early to check the course, meet the volunteers for event set up, put cones out and set up the speaker before the event briefing started. Once the event was underway it was lovely to chat to volunteers and keep an eye on the finish funnel to help with processing the results later. 329 people were able to take part in this lovely community event.

More than a token effort

Saturday 2nd August

Written by Karen Whitehead

Three GoodGymmers rolled up to Crewe parkrun for their parkrun fix of volunteering (and a 5k run for Emily). Karen and Nigel were timekeepers, as well as volunteer coordinator for Karen, and post event close down for both. Emily got hands down her favourite role - sorting the 362 finish tokens back into order ready for next week's parkrun over a coffee and chat with friends. its a tough job but someone's got to do it!

Crewe parkrun

Saturday 5th July

Written by Karen Whitehead

a lovely morning for a bit of parkrun volunteering! Nicola and Karen did the course check and course set up before Karen did the event briefing before the runners and walkers set off for their 5k around the park. Nicola did a fabulous job of number checker / funnel manager, making the result processing a doddle for Karen. While Karen and Nicola were packing everything away ready for next week's parkrun, Emily and Maurice were doing their favourite job of sorting the tokens back into order and replacing missing tokens, all ready to go again next week. 362 people took part - what a fabulous thing to be part of!

A runderful morning

Saturday 31st May

Written by Karen Whitehead

A lovely morning for a parkrun and a reminder about everything that is so good about parkrun. Karen was Run Director today, with added duties of xourse check, number checker, and results processor; Nigel was on course set up, timekeeper and close down, and Kat was on barcode scanning while her son did his first Duke of Edinburgh volunteering. Lots of juniors volunteered today, with parkrun a great easy way to get involved in volunteering.

We saw celebrations of amazing running and volunteering milestones today, and it was lovely to see Mark and Marjo back at parkrun. The parkrun community is so supportive and there's no doubt that many friendships have been made and physical and mental health benefits felt.

All in good time

Saturday 24th May

Written by Karen Whitehead

Nicola, Nigel and Karen joined the Crewe parkrun team today as volunteer coordinator and timekeepers. Such a lovely way to start the weekend! Our roles in the parkrun team meant that 391 people were physically active and were part of a lovely supportive community, all superbly led by the new Run Director on the team, Charlie.

More than a token effort

Saturday 26th April

Written by Karen Whitehead

Lots of roles carried out by the GoodGym team at parkrun this week! 389 prople took part, with over 50 walking as part of parkrun's "Let's Walk" campaign.

Nicola was the ever warm and welcoming Volunteer Coordinator; Karen was run director and did course check, set up and close down, results processor and communications; Nigel did course set up and close down as well was timekeeping; and Emily and Kat did the really satisfying job of sorting the tokens ready for next week - although sorting them into reverse order blew Kat's mind!

Great job everyone!
