Drop it like its hot for 14 runners this evening in Bath all in the name of FOODDROP, a great initiative created by students at Bath University using a clever little app to select a drop that suits, collecting surplus food from various outlets in the city centre and delivering them to local charities, yes it`s that simple so why not get involved https://www.fooddrop.co.uk/
WARM UP AND WELCOME to Thanu and Emilie joining us for their first taste of Goodgym Bath...Nice to have you along.
Our headcount tonight had a filling feel to it, what sandwich filling floats your boat? Most creative answer from Chris with his Avocado and smoked salmon creation...Yummy!!
The pickups couldn’t take place until 7pm so we had time to enjoy a fitness session in Southgate centre beforehand making use of the artificial grass for some extra padding working in pairs, planking and sit-ups with an audience enjoying every moment.
The time came to split up into three groups led by myself, Thanu and Alison covering two Pret locations and The Soho coffee house to collect todays surplus food and make our drops to project 28 and The YMCA in the City centre. Varying distances ran tonight from 4-6k
The pick-ups are always at 7pm when the stores close and taken after scanning the location barcode to verify the collectors with the assigned charities receiving the Surplus food before they distribute it on to those in need.
WE`LL MEET AGAIN
I do know where, I do know when, I know we`ll meet again at 7:30pm in the Abbey Churchyard for a little run to finish off before heading back to the leisure centre to see if any of the groups came up with a top notch pun for tonight’s run report.
The winning pun goes to Joe with “What an unbaguette-able run”
Thanks to Sam for leading tonight’s stretches...Superman Sam he is.
Thank you to Miranda, Thanu joining us from Food drop, just download the App to make it a regular thing, the drops are Monday to Friday and with the student holidays looming they could do with all the support they can get.
Finally, We need an Olympic torch making for the Goodgym Olympics at the end of the month, so if you’re feeling creative let me know or if you’d like to compete sign up https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/goodgym-taskforce-presents-the-goodgym-olympics-2018

An EGG’cellent group run tonight for the 10 runners who weren’t away on holiday for a 8k run and combination of Two Task Tuesday for Action on Hearing Loss for a spot of gardening and Food drop for a surplus food drop, a great volunteer project set up by students at Bath University, check it out and download the App https://www.fooddrop.co.uk/ looking forward to doing a whole group run for them in May.
Welcome back to Lydia and Hannah
Lydia from her winter hibernation, now where did I put that Red carpet?
A “How do you eat your cream egg?”
during group warm up and headcount, that could of been a mistake with most of us either boycotting them or not very keen on them.
A Good Luck mention for Pascale and Sam both running Marathons this weekend, although in different countries.... Mary is also part of the Goodgym race team now... Whoop!! More Red Thunder.
Heading out as one group with Pascale leading to Action on Hearing Loss, she is our expert sign interpreter after all. Steph taking a splinter group of herself and Lydia off to do a quick food drop from Pret to the Genesis trust soup kitchen, so you might say we had a
TRIPLE YOLK’ER
The Food Drop App was easy to use, just a case of picking up the surplus food scanning and then dropping off to the set location for distribution. Unfortunately we we’re pipped at the post on this one tonight by another charity but we will be ironing out the glitches and doing more with Food Drop in May.
TROWEL TASTIC
Evan and Pascale soon had the main group hard at work in the residential gardens weeding and clearing around the extensive flower beds at the residential centre for 30 minutes hard labour and they achieved a lot considering numbers were down due to the holidays. STEVE did managed to break a trowel, proving how hard he was working.
WHEN TWO BECOME ONE
Steph and Lydia caught up with the others in time to capture a group photo and a bit of Lydia snap chatting and supervising before setting off back to the leisure centre for a good old stretch.
THANKS TO SAM for tonights pun
A reminder we have a Sunday run this weekend to Bath City Farm https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/sunday-run-to-st-marks-community-centre If you can make it, I promise doughnuts all round.
