A warm, sunny Monday evening, that turned a bit cold towards the end, saw GoodGym Newcastle assisting Heaton Pride with their post-event clean up around the local area.
Six GoodGymers set out from Stepney Bank Stables towards Heaton, picking some litter as we went. As usual, South View West was heavily littered. No matter how many times we pick litter up in that street, it always returns. A couple of passers-by were keen to offer thanks, which is always nice to hear.
We got to Heaton Road and The Last Resort pub a while after Heaton Pride's own band of litter pickers. Between the two groups, virtually all of the litter was bagged and binned.
Well done to Nour for reaching the mini milestone of 10 good deeds tonight!

This evening, three GoodGymers headed out to the streets around the Tipsy Toad with a colourful mission: delivering leaflets to spread the word about next week’s Pride events.
With the temperature giving us a proper summer workout, we laced up our trainers, loaded up with flyers, and set off to make sure local residents knew what was coming up. The team covered plenty of ground and kept a steady pace despite the heat.
By the end of the session, hundreds of leaflets had found new homes and the team had certainly earned a cold drink!

Heaton Pride Leaflet Delivery Part 2 Rain Avoidance Plan:
Get up early and go out 3 hours before the rain is forecast.
Put leaflets in plastic bag.
Wear waterproof jacket with hood.
Well the forecast was wrong, the rain came early but the leaflets and I stayed relatively dry! Another few hundred delivered after last night’s start at the group run. Part 3 with Aimee on Thursday!

A satisfying Monday evening was spent picking litter around Heaton, after Heaton Pride at the weekend. It wasn't just GoodGymers tonight, there were people from Newcastle City Council and some Heaton Pride volunteers too.
We joined some of the people involved with Heaton Pride for a quick drink afterwards in The Last Resort, a small pub on Heaton Road.

Two GoodGymers leafleted for Heaton Pride in Heaton. This was our third task leafleting for Heaton Pride and the last of our leaflets. We need to get them out sharpish before the first event at 8pm that evening!
Luckily the streets in Heaton are long terraces so we managed to get hundreds of leaflets delivered within an hour allowing us to post a total of around 1,500 this week!
Anji completed three good deeds in one! As well as delivering hundreds of leaflets she also rang a doorbell to tell a women she had left her house keys in the front door and helped direct me out of where I was parked after as I ended up a bit blocked in!
If you are around this weekend check out Heaton Pride! We are also doing a litter pick to help tidy up after the event on Monday with a cheeky social after at the tipsy toad.

The rain stopped just in time for four GoodGymers to head out towards Heaton from Stepney Bank Stables, armed with many hundreds of Heaton Pride leaflets, without getting wet.
The terraced streets of Heaton are perfect for delivering lots of leaflets quickly. The best part of 1,000 leaflets were delivered in an hour.
Please join Aimee to complete the job on Thursday.
