78 GoodGymers have supported Incredible Edible LEAP with 9 tasks.

Through a light dusting of drizzle 5 Lambeth GoodGymers gathered to help Incredible Edible with their compost bin project.
We had a logistical challenge with Paul joining us walking while the group was running to the task and so trying to plan a route where we would meet at the same time while travelling at different speeds was like a primary school maths problem (Mandy is cycling at x and Billy is walking at y speed - where will they meet)..... Suffice to say AA Yianny failed the equation with aplomb!
The running group of Mark, Tilly and Michael set off from Papa's and headed towards bin number 3 with the plan being to turn the compost in that bin, bin 2 right next to it and then meet Paul at bin 1 as he arrived.
Our first challenge was that all the compost turners or 'pokers' seem to have disappeared and so we were looking for big sticks or branches to do the job with but thankfully it not being Spring yet, nature was happy to provide. After some disagreements with the padlocks and finishing the first two bins we set off to bin Number 1 only to find Paul walks very quickly and had been waiting for 10 mins :0(
We had the same issue at every bin so were always on the look out for big sticks to turn the compost and were able to get through 5 bins in total with the last one being very.... humid.
Anyway we headed back at walking pace having put in a good shift and a solid 5km of run / walking.
Big thanks to all and see you at the next one!
Tuesday 30th January

It was a chilly but thankfully dry evening yesterday as the team gathered at Papa's for the last group run of the January Challenge!
As 7pm approached there was still only AA Yianny at Papa's and so he was starting to wonder if anyone was going to join but a flurry of activity saw Louise closely followed by Charlotte come bursting in. Michael also joined bang on time and Orsetta from IEL came in to tell us all about the composting project and how we can support it.
This evening's category was if you were a work of art, what would you be and why - and we had some great answers so clearly some very highbrow individuals this evening ;0)
Because of the location of one of the compost bins we decided to split the group, AA would head with Tilly to the Effra Road estate then loop back to Loughborough Junction to meet the larger group who were doing the Brixton loop coming in the opposite direction.
The work is fairly simple and very satisfying, run to a bin, grab the mixing stick and give it a good going over to turn and break down the compost.
We will continue to support the project through till its conclusion in May however we are looking forward to launching the 'Adopt a Bin' initiative so if you live near one of the bins and are able to pop over and give it a turn every week or so please do sign up - more details to follow on the WhatsApp group & Weekly Email.
Once all was said and done we regrouped back at Papa's to enjoy a crisp non-alcoholic brew (see pics) from GoodGym's new partner Athletic Brewing Company - many thanks for supplying us with a refreshing end to our run!
Thanks everyone, see you next time!

Things were looking bleak at 5 minutes to the session but no matter the weather or the group size GG Lambeth will be out there doing good in the community.
As it happens it was a perfect winters' night for a run, crisp, cold, dark but dry and we were trialling anew potentially ongoing task with our friends at Incredible Edible Lambeth. Our winter stalwart Tilly was with us and just under the wire Charlotte signed up and made a group of 4 including Orsetta from IEL.
The task was simple, run to all 4 (5 as it turns out) compost bins installed by IEL around Myatt's Field and Loughborough Junction and give them a good turning over! In future we hope to help out with all the bins across Lambeth and are going to launch our 'Adopt a Bin' set of community missions so keep your eyes out for that.
And that was the tale of the evening, we got a free composting lesson from Orsetta (every day's a school day!) and turned over the food waste collected across the estates while enjoying a chat along the way. Oh and a nice 4km loop to boot :0)
Thanks all for turning out this evening and see you at the next one!

In preparation for the ‘compost party’ for local residents the compost was wheelbarrowed from the wooden bin to the tonne bags. A good work out in the heat!

Seven socially-distanced GoodGymmers turned up at Landor Road to meet with the aptly named Incredible Edibles and the equally incredible Landor Road Gardens. They have been working with doctors' surgeries in the area to help promote wellness in the local communities but, in these crazy Covid-19 times, wanted to flip that on its head – with local communities providing wellness to the doctors' surgeries.
To do this, they had created beautiful bunches of flowers for us to deliver to five surgeries as a way of bringing joy and showing thanks to each. They also had a smudge for us to deliver (which we all learned was a bunch of dried herbs that you burn to help cleanse and bring good energy!).
Armed with cards, flowers and a smudge, each pair gently jogged their deliveries across Lambeth – receiving smiles, smudge-induced confusion and even requests for songs (which John tunefully obliged!) from all the surgeries.
A lovely colourful mission for such a great cause and we can't wait to do it again soon!

The first week of October meant it was proper dark when we started our run and even darker when we finished! Luckily, we had two great tasks to get on with and everyone was super up for it.
A smaller group led by JKB headed back to the Tulse Hill Estate, where task owner Vinnie and his barky dog had three jobs that needed our attention. One group sorted out a compost heap that was a right mess, another moved a big old load of soil whilst group 3 moved a load of soil. You could say it was an evening of MOVING for this team but boy did they do well. Shout outs to Andrew and Rebecca who stayed behind to tidy up at the end. TOP STUFF.
WOOF! WOOF! Said the dog.
The rest headed to the fantastic Grove Adventure Playground, which is 1km away. For those wanting a longer run, Tom H led a group 3.5km round the houses. Once there, some people set about digging holes in the ground to plant some grasses that were from the Chelsea Flower Show don't you know. It turns out this was much harder than it seemed as chunks of concrete were awaiting us below the surface. After some serious perseverance all grasses got planted, which task owner Anthea was very impressed by. Another group filled up a flower bed with soil and the rest set about some serious weeding of flower beds out the front and also between the paving out the back. Even more people swept and mopped the floor inside. All in all, we got loads done and one tool was like a broom but had a tiny head on the end and we thought it was like a giant's toothbrush. So that was fun.
It's like a giant's toothbrush! Said Freyja.
On return to base, we tucked into some delicious biscuits and some cake that had candles on it as it was Katie's (that's me!) birthday so that was very nice. THANKS LAMBETH!
