Edging Closer to Greatness 🌱✂️

Tuesday 7th April

Written by Yianny (he / him)

🌿 Our GoodGym Lambeth crew were back at it this Tuesday, lacing up their trainers and heading out from Papa’s with one mission: to give Ruskin Park’s borders the glow-up they deserved. 💅

Fi, Michael, and the very welcome return of Khai made up our small-but-mighty run group — because as we all know, good things come in small packages. 📦✨

And waiting for us at the park were Katie and Tom from Lambeth Parks, ready to show us who’s boss on the border front. 👷

The task? Scrape away the encroaching grass and soil that had been creeping over the concrete borders on the lower path by the paddling pool and playground. In short: nature had been getting a bit too comfortable, and we were here to set some boundaries. 🚧🌿

Did we nail it? You bet your border we did. The path is looking sharp, clean, and absolutely on the edge — in the best possible way. 😎

Check out the pics to see the transformation in all its glory — because if a path gets edged and no one posts about it, did it even happen? 📸❤️

Massive thanks to Tom for having us, and to Fi, Michael, Fi and Khai for bringing the energy (and the scrapers). 💪🏼🍾

Until next time, Lambeth — keep running, keep doing good, and always… stay on the right side of the border. 😱🤩

🌿 CHIP, CHIP, HOORAY! 🌿

Tuesday 17th March

Written by Yianny (he / him)

Another Tuesday, another band of Lambeth legends proving that the only thing we love more than a good run is getting so mulch done for the community. 💪🏼✨

Our superstar squad rolled out from Papa's in fine form — AA, Michael, Dan & Jo lacing up and hitting the tarmac on foot, while Fi, Katie, Nehal and Adam rolled deep on wheels and wellies (well, approximately). The vibes? Immaculate. The chat? Flowing faster than we were. 🍾😂

Our mission this evening took us to the wonderful Agnes Riley Gardens, where the brilliant Jo from Friends of Agnes Riley and Tom from Lambeth Parks had a job for us: spread woodchip along the hedges to give the freshly planted whips the best possible start to the new season. 🌱 Think of it as tucking the baby trees in for spring. Cosy! 🤗

And did we chip in? Oh, we chipped in HARD. The team shovelled, narrowed and spread that woodchip with the kind of efficiency that would make a professional landscaper weep with pride — job done in no time, leaving us the very important task of... standing around a pond staring at newts. 🦎❤️ And honestly? Absolutely worth it. The pond was JUMPING (well, crawling, they're newts) with wildlife and we are not ashamed to say we were absolutely giddy about it.

🌟 SPECIAL SHOUTOUT 🌟

A massive welcome to Nehal, who joined us for her very first Group Run tonight! Having already dipped her toes in with Community Missions alongside Katie, Nehal is clearly committed to the GoodGym life — and we are SO here for it. Welcome to the madness, we love having newt members of the team. 😱🤩

Until next time, Lambeth — keep running, keep giving, and for the love of all things good, keep spreading the chip. 🌿🏃‍♀️💚

Brambles beware

Saturday 12th October 2024

Written by Jason Kurtis

Today we teamed up with the Friends of Unigate Park to tackle a thorny issue—clearing brambles and overgrowth from a local park. Armed with shears and a lot of shear determination, the group didn’t just hedge their bets—they trimmed back every tangled branch in sight. They had to leaf no stone unturned, wading through the thicket of obstacles with a shared passion to help the community. Though it was a prickly task, their team spirit helped them branch out and work in harmony. In the end, they didn’t just spruce up the area, they left the park blooming with new potential. Talk about a cut above the rest!
