A drizzle-y walk in the park

Saturday 6th June

Written by Jade

A classic, damp British drizzle wasn't going to stop the dedicated, as this morning one GoodGymer took on the role of Park Walker, to provide a warm, encouraging presence along the course. Parkrun is for everyone - rain or shine. Well done!

Marshalling a millennium milestone

Saturday 30th May

Written by Jade

This wasn’t just any Saturday at Morden parkrun; history was in the making as the community gathered to celebrate the first-ever parkrun runner to reach the monumental 1,000 milestone. With record-breaking crowds anticipated, our mission as car park marshall(s) was clear: manage the influx, keep the peace, and ensure the event ran like clockwork.

Thrown a curveball - blocked off spaces due to another event nearby and the responsibility was more slightly more challenging but we did our best and then joined the announcements and presentation, as well a squeezing in scanning a bunch of finishers before heading off. It was brilliant to be a part of the historical day.

Walking on mud-shine

Saturday 28th February

Written by Jade

We joined the volunteer crew at Morden Parkrun this morning to take on the most prestigious roles in the pack as Park Walker and Tail Walker.

It’s a noble task - ensuring that no matter how much the hills (or the sludge) try to slow people down, nobody finishes last alone. There’s a certain artistry to navigating a 5k course when it’s 50% mud; it’s also a little bit slow and slippery requiring tactical balancing.

Still, we got the steps in, cheered on the runners, and successfully avoided any major face-plants. The park is beautiful in the muddy sunshine, the volunteers are legends, and we gained another credit for our efforts and had a nice walk and opportunity to get to know each other a little better 😀.

Ice to see you January

Saturday 3rd January

Written by Jade

We kicked off the first GoodGym session of 2026 with a high-energy morning at Morden Parkrun! It was a brilliantly busy turnout; with a nearby event cancelled, we saw a huge influx of runners eager for their first Saturday 5k of the year.

The team braved the icy, cold temperatures to support the core volunteer crew, keeping the finish funnel flowing smoothly and warming up our hands with some post-run token sorting. Despite the chill, the atmosphere was fantastic - a perfect way to ring in the new year with the local community.

A token of appreciation

Saturday 27th December 2025

Written by Jade

Stepping in to help the Morden Parkrun team with the post-run token sorting this morning. It was a properly chilly one, and with volunteers in short supply, it was the best way to acknowledge the team (given a few other events had been cancelled due to lack of volunteers), although sorting tiny plastic tokens with frozen fingers is definitely a test of patience.
