This week we welcomed 2 new runners to the @GGSHEFF Crew. A big welcome to
GIVE EM A CHEER!
This weeks task was a woody one. On arrival at Sharrow Community Forum we were greeted and briefed by MARVELOUS MARIA who described the evenings tasks which included moving wood in and out of the now fully functioning wood working workshop and cutting down partly used pieces to ensure that nothing went to waste.
As it was a little cramped in the workshop with a few less tools than we wood ;) have liked we split ;) the group and half of us branched ;) outside for some fun time fitness. This week this involved a group circuit containing:
Once we swapped groups over so everyone had a chance to sweat and to saw we said our goodbyes and headed home with a few street furniture exercises thrown in for good measure!
Once the Howard St Sprint and stretches were complete we gave Kat a huge congrats for her 50th good deed and thanked Steve for #GGBBQ3 and headed in for warmth and refreshments.
Until next week....
Happy Running!

Seventeen Sensational @GGSheff runners ran to Sharrow Community Forum to help sand and assemble chairs for a wood CNC workshop!
After welcoming @HelpSheffield Phil Vintin to the team we headed off to SCF. On arrival and after boosting our team numbers by two we headed into the workshop to meet Marvelous Marie.
Marverlous Marie gave us all a fantastic brief explaining the plans for the workshop and how @GGSheff have helped to get it to it's working state it's in now.
We got straight to it with 2 grades of sandpaper to ensure a quality finish on the edges before gluing and bashing the pieces into place.
We even had a chance to try out the shop made balance boards with some impressive results.
After a quick drink to quench our thirst we headed to a near by playground and got straight to business with some:
We then finished with a straight arm hang where Magic Mike & Tenacious Tim impressed all with their gorilla grip!
Until next time, happy running!
Tom :)

20 TERRIFIC @GGSHEFF runners ran 5km to help Sharrow Community Forum lift, shift, weed and sweep an area that was overgrown and overcrowded so it can be used for the benefit of the community in the future!
Welcome to the Team
We welcomed 4 new runners to our @GGSHEFF squad this week:
Give em a cheer!
TheTask:
This weeks task was to clear debris and plant growth from the area behind the annexe at the Old Junior School (OJS) in to a skip, so that it is spick and span ready for visitors and new planters.
All items and plants were cleared, except those marked with red and white tape.
The skip was positioned a bit of a walk away from the annexe, by the OJS main door, as it couldn't be placed elsewhere, so items needed to be wheeled or carried.
I love a good tool. Kim Longbon, @GGSHEFF runner
Our tools for the job included a wheel barrow, trolley, gloves, brooms.
The @GGSHEFF team made quick work of the area clearing it in record time!
STOP, fitness time....
After dumping tools we had a quick round of SUICIDES to get our blood pumping before heading round to a nearby park for the following exercises:
Press up High Fives
Paired squat get ups
Squat Jumps
Box Jumps
Pistol Squats
It was a challenging fitness session this week with some new exercises to master and work on and some team work based skills to develop and practice. More of this in the future.
Next week we are off to Regather so don't delay, sign up today!

21 TREMENDOUS runners ran 4km to Highfield Adventure Playground to help Sharrow Community Forum clean up the playground for the local kidlings to play!
If it's raining, we're training!
Braving the Sheffield rain we had a fantastic turnout of brave runners meet us at the Showroom and welcomed new runners to the group:
* Bee Gan
Give em a Cheer!
After the compulsory brief, welcome to new runners, back marker identification and headcount we had a quick group photo and headed off into the drizzle.
We met MAGNIFICANT MAZ at the playground who promtly handed us gloves and tools to start weeding the overgrown playground. Buckets were found and weeds were pulled for a solid 45mins making a huge dent into the much needed work there.
Fitness time!
Thanks to the rain the nextdoor courts were all ours so we made the most of it doing a number of technique based exercises, followed by some fitness focused exercises and some running drills and games for good measure which included.
Lunges
High knees
Skips
Suicides
Dishes & Domes
High Knees
Box Jumps
Tri Dips
Stair Sprints
We headed back to base for stretches and talk of this weekends up coming small park, BIG RUN which it would be great to have a few more runners along to. It's a great cause and a beautiful park with a great view of Sheffield! Let me know if you are going and we can sort a time to run together.
Farewell Hattie!
Unfortunately tonight was Hattie's last run with @GGSHF as she moves down to Bristol to become a Dr and to join our Bristol Good Gym cousins. They will be lucky to have her! Hattie has been coming to @GGSHF since day one and has always been great company and a real hard worker on the tasks! You will be sorely missed Hattie and we wish you all the best in Bristol!
Next week
Next week we are off to Abbeydale Picture House for a special Cinema 2 Cinema - A Doc/Fest Special so hopefully we will have some cinema goers coming along to help make an old cinema flourish once more.
Don't forget to sign up and see you there!
Happy Running!
Tom :)

8 excited York GoodGymers set off early this morning on an adventure to Sheffield. Our first challenge was Sheffield Hallam parkrun at Endcliffe Park. There we met up with Susan, Sam and Sam's number one fan William, our Sheffield GoodGym cousins. We all finished in respectable times, considering there were 737 runners all squished into such a tiny space!!
Next we checked out the outdoor gym equipment in the park, where Egg gave us all a lesson in how to learn to do pull ups. William (age 2), was clearly the best at this!!
Breakfast was now top of everyone's agenda. Sam recommended Made by Jonty, where we all had huge platefuls to set us up for the mission ahead.
The mission was at Sharrow Community Forum. We readily accepted this task as sadly none of the Sheffield GG'ers were free. They had two raised beds that needed weeding, clearing of cigarette ends, and topping up with fresh compost for planting new flowers and veg in the near future. We also set about painting the walls of the courtyard a bright shade of white, a challenge we embraced heartily with paint brushes in hand, and Alex up a ladder to reach the top. Mel even managed to paint herself, head to toe!
We all really enjoyed our day out being GoodGym tourists and spreading the GoodGym love.

SIXTEEN SENSATIONAL @GGSHEFF RUNNERS GOT SANDY AND RAN 4KM TO HELP SHARROW COMMUNITY FORUM TRANSFORM HIGHFIELD ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND!
After welcoming Tom Read & Sarah Louise, two fantastic new runners to the @GGSHEFF team, we waved goodbye to the Copthorne Hotel at Bramall Lane for the last time and set off to the Playground.
On arrival we ran passed a fantastic 6 and out cricket hit and met with MAGNIFICENT MAZ who tooled us up with all the necessaries for the task in addition to fueling us with orange squash.
This week we were also joined by a journalism student who hung around for the full session seeing how @GGSHEFF roll, doing some interviews, taking photos and generally hearing some great feedback as to why people take part in Good Gym!
The task this week was a weedy one with the playground needing many a hand to get rid of the grass and weeds that have cropped up through the sand. The team made light work of the green goblins and after 45mins the area was comparable to Copacabana.
No time to lay out our beach towels though, we want to get FIT!
Our fitness session this week involved the following:
*DISHES & DOMES!
*HEEL FLICKS
*TOE KICKS
*DUCK WALKS (WITH ADDED QUACKS)
*LUNGES
*SPLIT LUNGES
*SQUAT 180'S
*BURPEES
*MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS
*PRESS UPS
*SAND SPRINTS
*GENERALLY GETTING SAND IN AWKWARD PLACES
Following a final group photo at the top of the ramp we got a heartfelt thank you from Maz before heading back to base to stretch off.
Next week we are off back to Abbeydale Picture House to continue the much needed restoration work on this iconic Sheffield landmark.
There is also a MISSION this Saturday for those who are MISSION VERIFIED - Clear the garden for Mr J is our first @GGSHEFF mission and is at 10.30am this Sat!
Also this Sun is the SHF HALF @GGSHF and @GoodGymYork will meet in the Peace Gardens at 8.30am for a group photo and to wish everyone the best of luck and then again after the race in the same spot to congratulate everyone and eat our body weight in chocolate hopefully in the sun! Feel free to run or just come down for the social and chocolate!
Happy Running,
Tom :)
