...and did we need them!

We were back at Sherwood Methodist Church for some follow up gardening maintenance as, despite the summer heatwave, things have just kept on growing!

Splitting in to two groups, Matt and Charlie channeled their inner lumberjack/tree surgeon and got stuck into some serious heavy duty pruning (not enough wheelie bins to contain their efforts!

Meanwhile, Rachel, Rachel, Leah, Florence and Peter (ably assisted by Peter's wife Jane) were clambering among the shrubs (and trying avoid the spiky plant things) to cut down the tall labernums and, yes, the spiky plant, so the church sign was visible again. With a lot of tamping down two wheelie bins were filled to the brim - how we got so much shrubbery in them is a mystery!

Thanks as always to Janice and Tony from the church for organising us so efficiently - we'll happily come back whenever you’ll have us!

It was a return visit to Sherwood Methodist Church for three Nottingham GoodGymers (plus Jane!) to cut back a well grown garden. Janice and Tony made sure we were organised so whilst Peter and Jane got stuck at one side of the church, Rachel and Leah took their loppers and secateurs down to the other. In all, four wheelie bins were filled (including literally briefly by Leah!) and much more could have been done. It should also be noted that no bees, owls or puffins were harmed during this task! We've been invited back in September so keep an eye out on the sessions page

Eight intrepid Goodgymers returned to Sherwood Methodist Church to tackle more of the overgrown garden.

With loppers, secateurs, brooms and wheelie bins ready we all got stuck in. Peter and Rachel finished off the cutting down at the front to finally reveal the Methodist Church signage. And no branches fell on any heads at all (sorry Rachel!)

Elsewhere, high roses were cut back and wheelie bins were filled to the brim with cuttings and branches and Matthew!

Huge thanks go to Tony and Janice from the church who supervised us so expertly and even made us a cuppa after before we all left as the heavens opened!

It was a first time visit to Sherwood Methodist and a slightly overgrown garden! Secateurs and a variety of loppers were the tools of choice as Peter, Matthew, Rachel, Aj and Nigel (plus a first time guest appearance from Jane, Pete’s wife) rolled their metaphorical sleeves up and got stuck in (and tried to avoid some of the giant thorns!). There was certainly plenty to go at and a good number of wheelie bins were filled to overflowing as the hour flew by. Plenty more to go at and a return visit in September is on the cards!
