Four early bird (6:45am!!!!!!) GoodGymers met up at Saints on Sunday morning to volunteer with the RunThrough crew for their Southampton 10km race.
It was lovely to see Claire and Phillip back at GG and Claire bought Leon along to volunteer with us. Thankyou for joining us Leon! (1 up) They were all sent off on the course to marshal.
At the Race Village Sarah and Wilson were on the desk handing out race numbers - which got a bit hairy as runners were still turning up after the race had started. Sarah then went on to hand out treats at the finish line and somehow managed to do crowd control at the same time while Wilson handed out the water.
We went 2up at the finish line as fellow GG'er Lauren came running across the finish line! Well done Lauren!

This evening a few of us got together to make some new fairy doors to help brighten up the now old and worn looking ones in situ at Eling tide mill for when we visit on Sunday for the beach clean.
It was a really enjoyable evening flexing our creative muscles and having a good chat and laugh in the process. Wilson put on some cracking tunes for us to enjoy with the delights of Celine Dion and Sia accompanying our creative escapades.
Claire was very adventurous with her use of colour and collaborated beautifully with Wilson on their animal fairy door. Sarah made a very lovely set of animal doors including an owl one which Wilson was very impressed with the colour of!
I got into full on bling and colour mode attacking the doors with many gems and rainbow vibes 🌈
A nice sociable evening and change of pace that will hopefully bring much joy to all use the boardwalk.

Goodgym Southampton is one year old today!! 🎉🎂
To celebrate we went to city farm with an army of goodgymers ready and eager to help with whatever task Tom may have had in mind for us. We were pretty sure it was going to be more goat mountain shenanigans but were shocked when farm volunteer Danni mentioned that this evening we would be helping put all the animals to bed and meeting them all by means of celebration and thankyou.
We were thoroughly spoilt - getting to feed the sheep and goats, getting walked by the new pygmy boys, putting the chickens and ducks to bed and meeting all the reptiles from the blue tongued skink to the gecko and giant african land snail.
After our tour of the farm we were kindly given use of the community room to celebrate our birthday with cake and drinks kindly supplied by Energise Me and Ellie.
We were also delighted to see Paul and Simon back with us after last weeks litter pick and to welcome Aimee for her first goodgym task.
Its been an incredible year with 157 tasks(!!!). Heres to seeing what year two brings!

Before birthday celebrations could commence at the farm this evening we were back to work delivering the 10,000 leaflets alloted to us to deliver.
We had 8 super helpers this evening and it really did prove that 8 and not 3 is the magic leafleting number! We even held a guard of welcome honour for Leszek who found us.
we very quickly got through 200 leaflets with some time for frolics thrown in before heading back to the farm. Great job team!

Another day another task!
This morning we headed out to goatee beach to help Dominiks Wildlife Fund with their monthly drop in beach clean for the first time.
The sessions were set up 11 years ago by a 12 year old boy to help keep the local beach clean and tidy. Once we found where we were supposed to be and received litter picking equipment from the lovely lady organising we set off.
Joined by mini goodgymer and Wilson family we were surprised at the amount of glass we came across. Sarah was on glass box duty and mini helper took great delight in letting Sarah know whenever glass had been found by shouting "GLASS GLASS GLASS!" which became almost a rallying alarm 🚨
Wilson was pleased to discover her litter picker had a magnet and Claire very bravely disposed of a 💩 bag!
Amongst some of the better finds were 2 shoes (from different shoe sets!) some mascara, an old piece of crockery and some glass dating back to the 1880s.
Once we had finished with the beach clean we went in search of fairy doors on the board walk and then for some food (and colouring in) in the cafe at the tide mill. An excellent morning all around!
