The soil was dry and dusty after so much sun so we had to dig hard and deep with rakes and spades to harvest our crop of cara potatoes. Helped by two GG regulars, members of Bexley Mencapโs gardening group, swopped their blue t-shirts for red, as we set to work on our allotment plot at Alyers Road.
Luckily, it was a cool evening and we laid down woodchipping in front of the sheds as well as cutting back the weeds and tidying up the borders and pathways for our own plot and those of our neighbours. There was time to pick and eat some cherry tomatoes and spot our first green peppers, too! The runner beans are riding high as well. Weโre also growing peas, winter squash, yellow tomatoes, garlic and onions, raspberries and dwarf and French beans. It all needs watering and weeding so it was a busy but enjoyable time trying to fit everything in.
Great effort by everyone.

In Bexley we are lucky to be able to work each month with two wonderful groups of volunteers who help keep Danson Park looking lovely.
Today we were due to spend time with the Friends of Danson Park, working on the Woodland Walk.
Nick, Martin, Johnny and Sarah arrived directly from parkrun. Liam and Emmanuel joined us there too.
After a quick briefing, we set about cutting back suckers growing from trees along the path that we have helped to maintain in previous months.
But then came a call for our services from the Friends of the Old English Gardens just across the park.
We were due to be helping them next Saturday but they had gathered a week early to make sure the gardens are in top-top shape ready to be judged on Monday for the annual Bexley in Bloom Awards.
So, with the blessing of our original tesk owners, we swapped location and got to work cutting back the ivy creeping over borders along the paths, and weeding in the flower beds.
All in glorious sunshine.
We'll be back with both sets of Friends again next month, so do come and join us.

What a lovely outdoor task at Bexley last night. We had a lot of plants that needed homing at Geddes Place Church and with the rain holding off and with the help of our lamps we got the job done in the nick of time.
The conversation of the night was movies and cinemas and found out that Star Wars was a big common denominator amongst us all. We were also all looking forward to the new Bond Film due for release later this week ๐๐ป๐
Massive thanks to the team last night, as you can see it was a task well done ๐๐ป

We also played a quick fitness game who 'could you be shalom priest', yep, i think we should all just stick to being Goodgymers ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Thanks Sarah for todays pun, i really like it ๐๐ป๐ Again guys thanks so much for all the work you done, the task owners are really pleased with everything we've, you are all awesome.

What a great task the team done last night. It started with the removal of old blue tac and wall preparation before we all dived in with the brushes and rollers. All the team put in a brilliant effort to get the job done (white) right ๐๐ป๐
Thank you everyone that showed up to help with our first indoor task since lock down eased, hopefully we'll have plenty more through the winter months.
See you all soon.

Tonight we had an awesome bunch goodgymers assemble outside Crooklog for our gardens task. Nicky and Tom were waiting for us so it was time to get warmed up and head on down. Nick led the walking group whilst Susan warmed up the runners and got them on their way. Thanks Caz for looking after the back runners.
On arrival at the gardens it was all about the Lavender, it was the best smelling task i've been on for a long time, our mission was to cut these back for another year.
I'd like to give a massive shout out to Julian who joined us from Greenwich this evening, we hope you enjoyed our company and welcome back to Sharine, haven't seen you at GG for a long time ๐๐ป๐
After a thorough pruning it was time to get the crew back to Bexley HQ. Well done on another task well done, you guys rock.

What a fab good deed it was last night with our new friends at the United Reform Church, Bexleyheath. Our task was to sort out the flower beds, pick a ton of weeds, and give the area a Bexley Goodgym make over, and thats exactly what we did.
Well whats the chicken diner all about i hear you ask? Well it shows that giving back to our awesome community really pays forward as the awesome team from Bexleyheath Nandos appreciated our hard work and invited us all in for a free chicken meal once we had finsihed our task, so thanks you so much to the team there, you were all awesome and the food was absolutely delicious.
See you next week everyone ๐๐ป

Emmanuel Cala done a 6 month mission streak.
Emmanuel just completed a six month streak of doing missions. Thatโs so many bags of garden rubbish cleared and jobs done to help someone out and put a smile on their face. Give Emmanuel a cheer to encourage them to keep up the good work.

What a brilliant evening, firstly because it was great doing Goodgym again with people i haven't seen in well over a year and secondly it was our first evening task in around the same time.
Well last night we were back at one of our favorite places, Danson Youth Centre. Over ground was an understatement so it was all hands on deck to clear and tidy up the footpaths, remove a ton of over grown stinging nettles and plenty of weeding, although there was a lot to do it didn't stop our excitement of being back goodgyming.
The evening was completed by planting a couple of herbs in the areas we just cleaned up.
Well done team and thanks for a great evening.............
