It was a night of celebration with 2 fantastic runners reaching GG Milestones. A HUGE congrats to;
AMAZING ANNIE for reaching 50 good deeds!
SENSATIONAL CELINE for reaching 100 good deeds!
We also welcomed 2 new GG runners, please click on their names below to support and cheer them!
We timed our departure to perfection, avoiding the rain and headed off to Hilly Heeley to meet with Heeley Green Veg; a community of neighbors looking to take stewardship of a local patch of land to teach the local community about growing fruit and veg and bring the community together to encourage socialising and reduce isolation.
With limited tools we split into 2 groups with half on the task of weeding and soil moving and half with me taking on some hill reps. We did 3 hill reps in total at 70% effort and recovered on the way back. On the final set we stopped at the top of the hill and also used a stair set to get some fast feet practice in.
After kicking of the clay mud and hearing some heartfelt thanks from the Heeley Green Veg massive we headed back for home with some loop backs and optional extensions thrown in, stretched off, heard the latest news and upcoming events and headed in for a fantastic tray bake provide by Caroline. Thanks Caroline!
Until next week, happy running! :)

This week was cause for celebration with both ZOFIA & MIKE completing their 101st good deed with GG!
CONGRATS BOTH AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING SO INVOLVED!
We also welcomed a new runner into the fold, please welcome, support and cheer;
With the first group run of Feb being a brisk one with a lot of wind (weather, not flatulence), we set sail after a quick group photo celebrating Zof and Mike's achievements to meet with Sustrans Stalwart Simon who as ever (even with a cold) was committed enough to load up his van with all manner of tools and meet us to volunteer himself and meet with us and give a brief of tonights task...
The site of the Durham Ox is an area we go back to every few months to keep it in order and use for all the users and Simon highlighted this really has been noticed, noted and is appreciated by users and nearby residents alike.
We got straight to task with a mixture of;
We got to three different sites around the Durham Ox site and collected 7 bags full of litter and made the paths much more presentable and attractive to use.
On route back we made a few stops for some fitness which this week included;
After stretching off we headed inside for some delicious home made lemon cake kindly made by Mike and his youngsters, thanks Mike and family!
Until next week, happy running :)

A HUGE GGSHF welcome to new runner;
Click her name above to support and cheer her!
This week was the last group run of the Jan challenge and our fantastic runners came out in force for a new collaboration run with the brilliant Justin and Ben from LOVE OUR STREETS which is a program to try and clean up the streets of Sheffield and keep them that way by encouraging people to adopt a street to stay on top of the litter on that street.
We ran to just off Eccy Rd to meet with Justin and Ben to hear more about this fantastic initative and get a good competition in as well to see which team was the most rubbish!
With maps provided by Justin and Ben we split into 4 teams to cover 4 different areas and see how many bags of rubbish each of the four teams could collect in the time we had.
Team three were the victors with a solid 3 bags!
After we had said our goodbyes we headed home via a ramp for some hills sprints. We also got some good extension loops onto the run whilst on route back to keep the group together and challenge those that fancied it.
Until next time,
Happy Running :)

A HUGE GG welcome to new runner, coming all the way from Peru to check out GGSHEFF....
Support her and cheer her by clicking on her name above, welcome to the squad Alessa!
This week was HUGE with so many runners coming out on a brisk Jan eve to do good in the steel city!
This weeks good was to help REGATHER and GORGEOUS GARETH with the planting of 200 spring bulbs around the Regather HQ so that it is beautiful come spring for all visitors and local residents who regularly pass through.
On arrival we split into 4 teams. With one team doing a bit of plogging around the site the other teams were either planting bulbs or coming to do some exercise. After a spell we swapped around with everyone getting a chance to get some exercise as well as exercise their bulb planting skills.
Exercise wise this week we had a go at an EMOM session - Every Minute On the Minute, where we tried to complete 20 reps of an exercise and once complete we had the remaining time up to the minute we were on to recover so you could either choose to smash it out quick and have longer to recover or take a bit longer and lower the intensity of the exercise. Everyone did really well and we got in;
Even the local were cheering us on from the high rises!
It's better than watching TV . R.Kenning
Once we were all done we paused to witness the final bulb being planted by Gareth as we all watched on in a circular cult like fashion (we're not a cult, honest....)
Shall we all hold hands? T.Archer
On route back we tried a little team game involving wall sits and ramp sprints, which for sure brought out some competition in some, lovely to see.
Thanks all for a great eve and until next time....
Happy Running :)

We welcomed a new runner to the fold this week. A big hand and GG welcome to;
Give him a cheer!
This week we were back off to our old friends at Heeley People's Park to help them with spreading much needed woodchip after the recent wet weather had really taken it's toll on some of the paths.
Raking it in...
In addition to the woodchipping we helped to rake up all of the loose grass and cuttings from the recently strimmed wildflower meadow.
Following a good session and a natural end point of getting to the end of the path we headed off to the U-Mix park for some Tripple Trouble fitness using the stone benches within the park to smash out 20 reps of each of the following;
After our fitness session we headed home to stretch off and hear of the latest news and upcoming events.
Until next time, happy running :)

Happy Birthday to us!
We just turned 3 years old! Seems like yesterday when we started with a handful of regulars and no post run beers to now with a big bunch of regular runners, regular post run beers and a whole host of extra curricular things going on all thanks to our amazing community of runners who like to get fit and do good
We welcomed first time GG runner Charlotte Owen who was up from London to get her first taste of GG fun.
Give her a cheer!
This week we were back off to help SENSATIONAL SUSTRANS SIMON on the National Cycle Network. We ran uphill to Manor to and an access point to the NCN which is covered over with trees, which makes it beautiful, though very slippery at this time of the year with the leaves falling.
Fear not, GG were to the rescue with a mass of people with stiff bristled brushes we soon got the technique to a tee with lines and then piles being formed in sweet synchronicity. We very quickly filled two builders bags with leaves and pilled the rest of the leaves on the side of the path to compost and leave the path free of slippery leaves.
In addition to the leaf sweeping we did a litter pick which ended with 9 bags of rubbish and a heater fan!
Two other teams formed and help to edge the path and cut back any overgrowing overgrowth!
With it being the birthday with beers and cake awaiting we gave the fitness session a miss just this week so that we had time to get to the pub in time for our booked buffet, kindly organised by Kim who had also made a pro level cake which was delicious.
Good times and celebrations were had and happy birthday was sung!
Here's to the next three years!
Happy Running :)
