Tonight 8 GoodGymers ran 6km to support the Phoenix Centre. They needed a new coat of paint - 'Lime Zest' in one room, and 'Cotton Grey' in another.
I read a "Zest for life" is the energetic, enthusiastic, and optimistic approach to daily experiences, characterized by feeling alive, motivated, and engaged.
As a key component of positive psychology, it involves treating life as an adventure, enhancing resilience, and reducing burnout.
It can be cultivated through mindfulness, gratitude, and purposeful action.
Well I think that sums up a lot of what we achieve by volunteering at GoodGym!
Care was taken to complete the task without paint splashes or blurred edges. In an hour the green room was completed and the grey wall had its first coat.
We will be back with further zest next month to continue the paint job.

Arriving on time, two goodgymers (Frankie and Jonathan) continued the work from the previous week to clear an abandoned allotment plot which had become overgrown with brambles. They were provided with an excellent array of tools and food by the Green Hearts Community of people to keep their energy up.
A fire was immediately started alongside the allotment to burn the cut brambles. A cute mouse was found scurrying through the allotment and shortly before this we caught a glimpse of spring sunshine which broke through the clouds to inspire everyone and lift people’s spirits.

Francesca earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Francesca completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Francesca was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Four Good Gymers supported Green Hearts to clear weeds and brambles from overgrown allotment spaces for those waiting to grow their own veg. There was a significant amount of overgrown brambles and by clearing these it will help the reduction of allotment waiting lists in Norwich.

Tonight 10 GoodGymer’s ran 6km to Alfred Nichols Court. We joined eight residents for a Quiz Night featuring rounds on Norfolk knowledge, Famous Brits, Sport & Pictures.
Halfway through, we stopped for tea and biscuits supplied by Norwich City Council.
It was a great evening bringing local residents together vying for the prize of an assorted box of hot chocolate!
This week the winning team was aptly named - Running Away With It.. Well done team!
