It was a bumper for milestones this eve with our caped crusader Chris on his 100th good deed and Amazing Annie hitting her 50th!
*Congrats and thanks to both! *
This week we were back off to help Sensational Simon with the upkeep of the National Cycle Network.
We arrived to the sight of movie style lighting which Simon had purchased to shed light on our task which will really come in handy for the winter in addition to our own.
We got a brief from Simon and got straight to work;
After a good 20min the hilly section we were working on was in tip top shape with the path clear and widened and ready for future users and commuters, a top job!
After downing tools and thanking Simon we headed for home via a few exercises along route which this week inc;
After stretching off and hearing the latest news we headed in for chat, food and drinks.
Until next time, happy running :)

A HUGE GGSHF welcome to......
Give her a cheer and support her by clicking on Carla's name above.
On a damp, dreary Sheffield eve our hardy lot donned their trainers and headed out to our old friends that we've not seen in a while over at Heeley City Farm. We ran and met with HAPPY HEATHER who welcomed us and gave us maps of tonights task which was to flyer the local area to let people know about the upcoming winter fayre (get the pun now?) this weekend which helps to raise funds to keep the farm running.
We split into 4 teams with TASK FORCE Team Captains -
After a good 30mins leafleting the surrounding streets we re grouped under shelter from the lethal drizzle and heard more about the upcoming events at the farm from Heather before saying our goodbyes.
On Goodbye we headed down the hill in style by all lunging forward, then backwards down the hill.
Think Monty Python meets Reservoir Dogs...
After a few tactical group circular squats to regroup we got back to base for stretches and liquid refreshment.
Until next time, happy running :)

We welcomed 2 new runners to the @GGSHEFF family last night. A big whoop, hola and cheer for;
Hope to see you on another run soon!
This week we were back off to an old fave that is the Abbeydale Picture House to continue helping CADS with their great efforts in restoring this amazing building and bringing back into former glory for use within the artistic industries and local community.
After posing for the first of many angelic photos for Kim's 101st GG Run we flew off down the street towards our destination.
On arrival we were met by SENSATIONAL STEVE & SUPER SAVERIO who gave us a brief of the nights tasks which included;
All teams got straight to it and made a huge impact in a small space of time, we had passer by's asking us about how to join and much awe and wonder for the work we were doing.
Once our time was up we headed home via the U-Mix park for some paired fitness activities which this week included;
Once home and stretched we heard the latest news which sadly included the news that long standing member Chris will soon be heading back to Germany. Chris has been a great member of the family, contributing loads of her time and energy into GG and being a really fantastic and social member of the group. Chris, you will be sorely missed by all and thanks so much for all of your help and time and enthusiasm!
Until next time, happy running :)

Oh what a night!
It was a scorcher! But despite this we had a great turn out inc Kat, who was on her 100th good deed and so received the now customary garb of the @GGSHEFF wings and hat and she pulled it off marvelously!
This week we were back off to Heeley People's Park to continue with much needed help that Heeley Development Trust are in need of now that the summer sun is here to stay and Rob is the only Parkie on site to manage all of the huge and fantastic space the park has to offer.
With a quick overview done we got straight to work splitting into TASK FORCE TEAMS lead by;
A great team effort was put in by all, with some putting in some sprints to make our time as effective as poss, nice one!
After saying our goodbyes we formed a circle and had an alternative game of duck, duck goose that involved sprints and various plank positions.
Next we split into 2 teams and formed a long line of high planks for the complete team to commando crawl through in a race to be the victorious team!
On route back we chucked in some sprint and returns and stair sets for good measure.
Until next week, happy running!

A new task for the @GGSHEFF crew tonight on a hot and humid Bank Hol Mon.
We set off from the Showroom via past and future task locations of Heeley People's Park, Reach Homes & Alexandra Road Community Garden which will be the site for our task next week.
We arrived to the Church of Nazareen and were welcomed with water, biscuits and ice pops by SENSATIONAL SOPHIE who gave us a brief background to the church and it's activities before showing us where the tools and paint were for us to get to work re-painting a large storage container on site.
The team got straight to it quickly making light work of the task in hand and not wanting to leave until every bit was covered.
After dragging the team away we made a pit stop on route back for some hang tough fitness working in pairs to complete;
On the bars we put in;
On return to base we stretched and shared updates and headed inside to sample the delights of TREMENDOUS TOM who really could do with auditioning for Bake Off with the skills he has, making some delicious cake for Chris to congratulate him on his wedding! Unfortunately Chris couldn't make it but we all celebrated and gorged in his honor!

An impressive 20 runners rocked up on a GLORIOUS Bank Hol Monday in Sheffield to run to a new task this week in the community hot spot that is HILLY HEELEY!
We had a great welcome at the end of a hard hill from GENEROUS JANE & NOTORIOUS NAOMI who were joined by other friendly members of the nearby community who are involved in the upkeep of this fantastic community run garden space used by residents and passer by's of all ages who benefit from having this lovely little sun trap area to rest, relax and enjoy the beautiful blooms of the garden.
After a well earned drink, perhaps a slice of melon or the odd biscuit (or multiple in my case) and a bit of hobnobbing (no?) we gathered in the shade caught our breath from the final uphill slog and got a brief from Jane & Naomi re the gardens history, how we can help and the tasks involved for this week (we will be back).
We split into crack teams who were straight to work with;
The garden was a hive of #REDTHUNDER with Axe Murderer SENSATIONAL STEVE and DANGEROUS DAVE doing a chop notch job of chopping it whilst it's hot and not being satisfied with their trophy Steve proclaiming;
I've just got so much good to give!
After a good session on the above the garden was looking much better for having some love.
As the sun began to sink behind the nearby houses, some welcome shade was well timed as we began our fitness session for the week which involved us working in teams of 2/3 and working our way round a full circuit which included;
We had a fantastic and heartfelt thanks from Jane & Naomi before heading off downhill this time back to base with some extra loops chucked in for good measure. We stretched off on the GLORIOUS GRASS and made it our little picnic area with some liquid refreshment and food. What better way to spend a Bank Hol Mon in the sun!
