Thinking I was going to be alone, I brought my Dad along to this task (GoodGym and family!) we got to Plantastic mesmerised by all the growth of fruits and vegetables over the summer then got stuck in clearing a plot where what looked like a dismantled shed had been fly dumped :-o we upset a few spiders as we forced them out of lockdown but in an hour and a half, we had almost cleared the plot and separated the wood to save what was good for reuse and what was good for burning. Kathy and Rakesh enlightened us on the different plants that surrounded us and their herbal properties - invaluable knowledge and later we were rewarded with the sweet taste of Damsons that have ripened. Lovely evening!

Ed and Linda turned up half an hour early to work on the SHP Allotment. Ed quickly got to work finishing clearing the way to the water tank while Linda cycled off on a pre-mission Street Tag collection, her next job was untangling a Walnut sapling from bind weed and brambles which were pulling the branches right down to the ground. Jem arrived bang on time to help out with clearing the fruit trees and tending the planted beds, sampling the odd blackberry along the way. Its starting to look like we are beginning to win against the overgrowth at the allotments. Looking forward to next Wednesdays meeting with Lorena - the task owner and Rakesh - permaculture advisor so real plans for improvement can be made.
P.S. not sure why photos are rotated 45 degrees. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ Look on it as a neck exercise. ๐คช

Jem completed their first weekend mission.
Jem has forgone the usual weekend routine. Instead of lie-ins, roasts and strolls around the park Jem has dropped everything to run a GoodGym mission for someone who needed help. Respect

We arrived pretty much on time, Mr A opened the door for us and kindly allowed us to bring our bikes in for safety. We then went to the garden where a lot of work needed to be done as the path and lawn have completely overgrown but there was a huge pear tree with lots of fruit that sadly weren't ripe yet!
Mr A was a little bit nervous letting us mow the wet grass but after a while we got into a rhythm of cutting the grass with a lawn mower that needed to be cleared every min and clear the path with a spade. Both activities were a good upper body work out, so after 45min we finished leaving Mr A with a nicely cut garden, a path that was reclaimed and we even managed to clear some of the front garden!

Mr A will be able to enjoy an additional area of the home and fresh air as he barely leaves the home.

Jem run their first missions with GoodGym.
Jem has just done something they've never done before. Jem has just run a mission; they've changed their running route and run to help someone who really needed their help.

Lovely little mission on my bike, Mr A was very grateful and waited for me outside his place and explained exactly where in the shop to find the desired goods! Which made it all the more of a pleasure :)
