Three runners met at the Phoenix Cinema and ran to Coldfall Woods, where we were joined by several others. The task owner, Linda, explained that our job was to dismantle some dens and use the logs and branches from them to restore the edging around the paths. Not only would this stop people from creating new paths through vulnerable bits of woodland that need protecting, it also provides a habitat for insects - which in turn will attract more birds and other wildlife to the wood.
We worked quickly in the fading light and managed several dens.
Huge apologies again to those we didn't manage to find in the woods. I'm sorry for your wasted evening - and also sorry for us that we missed out on your company and help with the task.

Jenny done a 6 month mission streak.
Jenny just completed a six month streak of doing missions. That’s so many bags of garden rubbish cleared and jobs done to help someone out and put a smile on their face. Give Jenny a cheer to encourage them to keep up the good work.

Goodgym members gathered at this extraordinary forest in the middle of North London to help the Rangers of Highgate woods. We met with Gilbert who suggested we were employed to search and destroy several of the dens. The structures are potentially dangerous and do not provide a useful habitat for woodland life in particular the insects and fungi. The wood is better rotting on the floor. We destroyed four structures before running back to the cafe area to do some exercises. Good fun and a good deed done on a lovely sunny day.

Seven GoodGym members came together to help Long Lane Pastures,a nature reserve in the middle of Finchley. We met up with the friends of the Pastures Donald, Wayne and Maureen. They asked us to help to clear the paths of weeds and to rake up the recently cut long grass. It was a beautiful evening as we started our work. To our surprise Donald had remembered that it was the anniversary of the formation of Goodgym Barnet and that we had visited on our first mission five years ago. They had generously arranged a birthday cake for us to consume at the end of our task. Much appreciated and let's hope we can continue to help them in the years ahead.
keey active and doing good!
