Our biggest group of the year - 19 GoodGymer's assembled at Oxfam store Magdalen Street.
Shout out's to Emma attending her first session, Maddy & Jack returning after a break, and Stephen who completed his 250th session!
In a scene similar to 60 Minute Makeover, Emily gave out the tasks for the evening (clean as much as possible) and the team spread out armed with hoovers, dusters, scrapers, tackling any surface that needed a clean. Even the toilet floors were given a thorough working over!
The floor downstairs was the main target, with dirt marks leaving a trail like foot prints - the big question was who was the culprit?
In a hour we had covered nearly every shelf, table and flooring, leaving the store looking transformed!
Well done team, it was a fantastic effort. Also best wishes to Jordan who moves north next month.

Tonight was our first time visiting Frere Road Community Centre. After a 5km run or walk to the venue we met Claire who had all the tools ready.
The main task was covering the outside wall in 'Brilliant White' paint! It had already been prepared for us - thank you - with weeds cleared and paint dusted, so we could get stuck in straight away.
In an hour the 5 of us covered approx 10m, with rollers, ladders and brushes, making sure the bricks were covered evenly. Eloise also managed to cut back a tall bush at the front if the building to reveal a lovely canary murial.
The transformation was brilliant indeed! We hope to return for more painting very soon - there is plenty more to do.

Tonight 5 GoodGymers ran or cycled to the beautiful Bowthorpe Community Garden.
We met Sally & Tim who kindly provided refreshments and nectarines! They had a list of tasks so we split into 2 groups.
One group dusted down 2 wooden benches before giving them a fresh coat of Red Cedar paint.
The second group cut back and pulled up thistles that were taking over the area, before filling wheelbarrows and taking the waste to compost.
With an hour nearly up, Woody finished painting the panels behind the benches, and Ian & Jordan filled two planters with 8 wheelbarrows of soil.
It was an impressive effort by all, and much appreciated by the community group.

Monday 20th July

Jordan Smith has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Jordan is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Tonight we headed to the beautiful Marlpit Community Garden. 9 GoodGymer's ran, walked or cycled along the traffic free Marriotts Way.
The large volunteer-led community garden, with orchard and allotments, had recently been mowed. So we began raking up the dried grass into large piles that will be used as mulch for the fruit trees. Its amazing what we can do in an hour! There was also time to transport flatpacked cardboard to the far end of the site using wheelbarrows.
Well done to first timers, Jordan, Ben and Andy. Hopefully we will be back at this lovely venue in the near future.
