Working Together For Woking
Today Wayne, Nadia , & Anne were at Woking leisure center to promote and highlight Woking GG 🏃🏼♀️to other local charity organisations.
We were one of 50 local groups at the event showcasing what we are all about and what we do.
Wayne & Anne got there early to set up, we had a great spot were everyone could see us. Anne kindly brought a red table cloth which was prefect to have our GG shirts that Anne had folded very professionally 😀. The balloons and leaflets made our table stand out. Anne being involved in many other charities seemed to know everyone and wasted no time chatting to other groups to see if we could offer our services. It was great seeing other charities that we have already done good deeds for and many new one.
Nadia joined us shortly after and kindly brought us coffee & tea. Nadia got stuck in straight away and made many new contacts with possible future tasks, even managing to get one for this weekends firework display at Woking Park where marshals are required 🎆🎇
It was great to see Julie who has been unwell recently even though Julie was with one her other charity groups she joined us to highlight GG 😀
Wayne &Nadia had to leave just after lunch time but Anne stayed on to continue making contacts
All in all it was a great day and now more groups know about Woking GG

Lighthouse Foodbank
On this chilly evening Wayne, Nadia, & Julie met at Woking leisure center.
Wayne got Nadia a little gift a head torch, but Nadia had already bought a light vest which was very fancy 😀
From here They ran from the back of the Park up the hill, Traffic seemed very bad this evening around the area. We got to the foodbank and were surprised to see the lighthouse closed. We has a little walk around the town and headed back to the lighthouse but the shutters were still down. Wayne double checked his email just to check there was no mix up with dates.
We waited till about 19:10 and then decided to head back to the leisure center. We ran 🏃♀️back down hill and got talking about what races we were all looking to sign up to.
We got back to the park said our good byes and headed home.
This Sunday Woking Junior Park are still looking for volunteers.
Hope to see you all soon. 😀

Beckys 50th Good Deed 🎉
7 GoodGymers ran 40km to pick litter around Woking. The Woking Womble group consisted of Wayne, Anne, Adam, Julie, Katie, Kirsty and Rebecca. It was the first time a few of us cracked out our chest/head torches now the dark nights are drawing in. After sorting out our torches, Kirsty led the way along a new route for some of us to her childhood home. We then made our way to the station and down White Rose Lane, which is always a guaranteed route for finding litter. Rebecca disappointingly threw away an un-opened can of Madrid, she was hoping to drink to celebrate her 50th good deed.
A good evening was had by all and you can never go wrong with a run with friends while picking up litter to make our local community a better place.
Next Thursday we are at the foodbank carrying out a deep clean. 😀

Woking Report written by Woking runner
Julie and Anne met at the Memorial Centre in Brookwood to complete this week’s task.
We worked with other volunteers to help “All Aboard Club”. The club runs play sessions across London and Surrey for autistic ADHD and SEND children who they build and play with giant train sets in a safe, understanding and supportive environment.
It took us record time to finish the sophisticated track and it was tempting to have a go at trying it out ourselves.
We wondered if Nadia was happy with the Italy Run London 5K, we are sure she appreciated the pasta provided at the end of the race. We also thought of Becky, our amazing GG member, who was taking part in the Dorney Lake Triathlon.
Meanwhile, we supported remotely James and Adam who were running the Polesden Lacey monthly trail 10Kms as well as Maya who is training for the Chicago marathon and planned to do a Long Run this morning too.
There is no task for this coming Wednesday, but we might decide to organise a training run?
In the meantime, happy running everyone.
