It was a challenging morning for Goodgymers Carol, Caroline, Karen and Sheila. The Baby Bank has been inundated recently with clothes donations. While they have a temporary stop to taking any clothes, our task was help order the donations bags we already have. They were in a right old mess - some unlabelled bags, some in the wrong storage travel cot, and many contained a huge mix of clothes for different age groups. We spent the morning inspecting what was in each bag, labelling each bag clearly with the gender and age group, and making sure it was in the correct storage place. Now any volunteer looking for a specific size should be able to select the correct bag. The facility looked so much more ordered and tidier when we were finished. Thanks to everyone for putting in a much longer shift than normal to make sure we finished the job

4 regulars turned up for the Spital Cemetery workparty this morning. Sue tackled a grave she was trying to find a name for, hoping that there was an inscription on the underside of a fallen cross. Meanwhile Karen, Sheila and Maggie took on the brambles that were overpowering a number of headstones. Two big dumpy bags later , several headstones had been revealed, so we hope that William, Anne, Jane and Rachel approve!

Caroline, Karen and Sheila helped out at the Baby Bank this morning, quickly settling into the routine of checking and sorting clothes donations. Luckily the facility had invested in 2 large fans to keep the volunteers cool, and boy, did we need them! Most bizarre find in the donation bags was a turkey baster. Not something we've ever been asked for!

Carol and Karen helped out at the Baby Bank this week. There was a large corporate team in so Carol and Karen were promoted to blue volunteer, lanyards as opposed to the usual red visitor lanyards and were able to guide the corporate team while they did the first checks on the donated clothing. Carol and Karen did the second checks and put everything neatly into the correct boxes.

Sue and Karen spend a pleasant morning helping at the Baby Bank. Sue sorted lots of nappies downstairs while Karen did second checks upstairs. A few regular volunteers from other days attended to bolster the numbers so it was good to meet and chat with new people.
