Woolston Weeding.

Southampton Report written by Stephanie (She/Her)

A lovely session with Jill and the lovely volunteers at Woolston Station Garden. We even had time to stop for a break. There are always some brambles to weed out and we were dressing the beds thanks to a donation of bark. It is fabulous to see all the bees and pollinators enjoying the amazing flowers growing in the beds.

If it paint broke, don’t fix it.

Southampton Report written by Ellie (She/her)

Tonight we were in charge of cleaning and packing away all the things from the Colour Run the day before. We quickly got to work organising a box for resuable items, checking and refilling the "useful" event boxes, and wiping down the tables. Ashleigh upon discovering a wheel had broken on the trolley set out with great determination to fix it. It was no easy feat and she had to call Lucy in as reinforcements. After some work with a hammer, a glue gun and some tape the wheel was back on. Unfortunately it did not pass the "Can you support a whole human" test. So they had to start all over again! I can confirm the wheel is now back on but we wouldn't recommend an heavy loads at the front of the trolley or any bumpy ground!

An Early Start For Some!

Southampton Report written by Stephanie (She/Her)

Leszek led the way getting up with the larks arriving before 6 am to help unload the vans, put up gazebos and a fantastic workout in the process. Nicola, the super organiser amongst us was already there too when Stephanie (who was supposed to be leading the session) strolled in at 8 am! 🤓 There were plenty of tasks left for us all to help with and Nicola came into her forte arranging the book stall. Thank goodness the rain held off and the sun shone.

Spring Strimming fun at the cemetery !

Southampton Report written by Stephanie (She/Her)

Lots of fun and a good workout for Nicola and Stephanie as we joined the lovely volunteers down at Southampton Old Cemetery. We followed behind the strimmers raking up the grass and weeds. All ready for their open day next Sunday 10th May when they celebrate 180 years since the cemetery opened.

Alive the Alleyway

Southampton Report written by Wilson

It was great to be able to be part of the Alive the Alleyway project in Newton Southampton on Saturday, helping to clear an alleyway for the local community. It had turned into a dumping great for unwanted household items. Our job was to come in after the council had cleared these items and to help clear the weeds and brambles and litter. It was a tough job but we got stuck in. We welcomed Debra doing her first ever task - a tough one to start with so i hope we haven't put her off! It was lovely seeing the children enjoying the space they had been given back and hope they enjoy it for years to come.
