Keeping the trash off the streets

Another pleasant evening in our early summer saw five Goodgymmers greeted by a blast of crooner classics outside the Mercury theatre. After a casual stroll to the high st we met Pam and got to work clearing the flower beds, with a few different challenges to meet.
There was preserving some flowers, removing others and then removing the weedy soil altogether, limited by bags and their weight. Some chat about archeology as we discovered how deep those flower beds go, sadly nothing but glass shards uncovered by our team.
Following the task we loaded up Pam's car (after she demonstrated her impressed strength!) then unloaded them at her home too, a thorough job that will need a follow up soon.
Join us next week for some post-task drinks in town!

Ray Halls earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Ray completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Ray was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.
Wednesday 23rd April
Ray Halls has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Ray is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

On a light and sunny April evening we were joined by an ever growing team of Goodgymmers to tackle some local litter. We were joined this week by new members Ray and Madeleine - who quickly got up to speed by collecting many ciggarettes and random plastic lumps.
Strolling through town gives great chance to get to know new members and discuss reasons for supporting Goodgym, we also got stopped for praise by passers by, which is always nice. Chat covered schools and parts of town, rare litter finds and running (I'm still going on about my Paris marathon).
We wrapped up our new route in the Abbey fields playground, where i somewhat bemoaned the lack of litter this time round, if only our town was more filthy. However, our large group would have made light work on any route, onto the foodbank next week!
