Pitch Perfect!

Brent Report written by Pete

6 of us braved the autumn weather and the dark to distribute flyers for the great local community choir 'Queens Park Singers' based at St Anne's Church on Salusbury road, a lovely local open choir for all. We welcomed Aurora to her first Goodgym Brent group run, welcome Aurora, good to see you! Pete, Aurora, Valentina, Samina and Kate from the choir met at Beer n Burger, dropped some stuff there, picked up the flyers and some maps, warmed up then jogged the 1/2k to the top of Chamberlayne Road, Pete leading and Samina backmarking. We split into teams. Samina, Aurora and Valentina headed off down Donnington road to do the west circuit while Pete met up with Lee and Beatriz and headed off down All Soul's avenue. Lots of choir leaflets were distributed and some Goodgym Brent flyers too with about 500 choir leaflets posted. It was dark and fairly cold however we were in good spirits and the time flew by. Having run out of leaflets we separately arranged as two groups to jog / walk back. We met at Beer n Burger for a lovely social and a drink. Thank you everyone!

Chipping In

Brent Report written by Tabitha Skinner

On Monday evening Goodgym Brent met in Willesden , ready to return to one of our favourite tasks , Clitterhouse Farm House . We warmed up with a short round of dynamic exercises , then set of for a 2.3km run . Josh led the group , with Samina keeping up the pace. Anne Marie and Hannah supported eachother along the way, and Pete and Tabitha dragged along at the back. It was a rollercoaster ride but we made it in one piece , with red faces to match our t shirts .

Anika was eagerly awaiting our arrival , and had a choice of tasks waiting: weeding , pruning rosemary, spreading woodchip, breaking down cuttings for compost and cleaning the greenhouse windows .

We split the tasks and got to it , shortly joined by Kat and Lee who got stuck in immediately

We worked away until we began to lose daylight , stopped for a photo then jogged or walked back

We ended with a drink in Beer & burger and some more chips ... the edible kind

great job everyone !

Shear Perfection

Brent Report written by Josh Stevens

First group met at Beer & Burger including Tabitha, Pete, Hannah, Josh and Samina. Shaking off the long weekend slumps, the journey to Kingsgate began.

A little sweaty and out of breath, the team meets Ajay at the task location, with Beatriz and Lee also joining.

After a short walk and instruction the gardening team got to work, pruning, sculpting, weeding, and creatively building a floral masterpiece in the garden plots. The end result being so perfect local residents came outside to enquire and offered to water them moving forward.

Feeling fulfilled and content the team started the uphill climb back to consume a well deserved drink and chip or two!
