Kaleidoscope of Colour

Bournemouth Report written by Daryl Venner

Seven Goodgymers meet at Muscliffe Park to help the Parks Foundation set up for the Holi event they helped put on for the Hindu community put on to bring every one together to celebrate Holi and all the colour's . We started by helping to put up gazebos and fencing round the DJ 's gazebo.A group went off to find some sticks so some ribbons could be tied to them for the children could wave them, another group went off to pick some petals to be placed in windows cut out of card we did so much in helping to get this event up and running. My what an event it was full of colour dancing and lovely food. The parks foundation could not thank us enough for all our help.

Basking and binning

Bournemouth Report written by Bournemouth runner

Could we have had a more glorious day to do our ā€œcheeky littleā€ litterpick? Four Goodgymmers, Roger, Keith, Lea and Sylvie, once she managed to find us, all joined efforts to get rid of rubbish. Surprise, surpriseā€¦ in spite of the half term crowds having been and (nearly) gone, the litter wasnā€™t too bad. We still managed to pick up a fair bit though. And with two thank yous from the public, another Goodgym deed completed. Andā€¦ the first one for Keith in his ā€˜100 tasks completedā€™ Goodgym shirt! Basking in the sunshine sipping our cups of coffee and tea, we are not complaining! No idea why the group photo was such a disaster šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Sylvie completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Sylvie was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Building a compost bin

Bournemouth Report written by Janet Beauchamp

Daryl, Janet and new Goodgymer Sylvie met at Pelham Park to help Steve and Lisa from the Parks Foundation to build a compost bin. First Daryl and Janet created a rectangle from planks of wood. This would form the perimeter of the compost bins. Meanwhile the others flattened the area of ground and then we started to knock the posts into the ground. This was fun as we got to wear a hard hat and use our muscles!! Finally, after a much-needed cup of tea on a very nippy winter morning, we drilled all the planks along the sides. Now itā€™s all ready to make compost! Hope to see Sylvie again at another task soon.
