Removing Plastic Tree Protectors đ
This morning Wayne joined WE Act a local charity that do fantastic work in the community around local woodlands and nature reserves đŗ
Wayne met Charlie from the charity as well as David and Laura. Charlie was explaining to us how the nature reserves within the community are a top priority for them to remove invasive species of plants and to plant trees and encourage wild life to blossom đ
He also mentioned that how Beavers were being introduced back in the wild into open area's đĻĢ, it was really interesting to hear all this and about the upcoming projects that WE Act have coming up and hopefully Woking GG being a part of. đ
Wayne this time brought his wellies after last weekends task was very muddy, We met at the entrance of Mayford Medows and walked for 8 Mins it was very muddy, the Sun was out and reserve looked amazing we then came to an area where the trees that required the plastic protectors to be removed were, (There were alot of trees) Charlie told us that the plastic had been around the trees for years đ˛ these protectors were going to be used for future tree planting projects đđž
We got stuck in and in no time we had removed so many, it was very satisfying work đ
There are future tasks in the GG Page that are bio-diversity đ projects if anyone can help that would be great.

Woking Report written by Alys Penfold (she/her)
Another Sunday morning, another junior parkrun!
Despite it being -1 outside, 126 children and their adults turned out to Woking park for their weekly run & walk.
The sun was shining though - bringing smiles to faces and making it feel like Spring is finally on its way!
Alys, Wayne, James & Adam all took on marshalling roles today. We loved cheering on all the children as they made their way around the park.
A massive congratulations to fellow volunteer Vicky for an incredible 500 volunteering stints at parkrun which she achieved this weekend! She got a big round of applause from the crowd, and a bunch of flowers from the director team.
We'll be there again next Sunday, why not sign up? Junior parkrun is cancelled at Woking on 16th March due to the Surrey Half taking place.
