Report written by Joel Wiles
13 Hackney GoodGymers ran 6k to clear a huge patch of the Wilton Estate Community Garden.
With almost tropical weather in comparison to the past two weeks we set off on our Tuesday adventure around Hackney!
Taking a random longer loop to the task to allow us to get some distance in our legs. Great to have so much running chat going on!!from running form, to GPS watches to first timer Half marathon plan’s as well as some intermediate ideas for those looking to improve over 21.1k of fun this Spring!
Reach Wilton after 3k of Riverside running we go stuck straight in! Dan on the axe was in fine form and we kept a big distance from his powerful earth moving swings.
While team work was in full effect helping to shift some of the most determined roots in all the Land. Taking out masses of weeks and garden wilderness so that the community gardeners on the Estate can reclaim their garden and start planting for the Spring and summer.
The roots made us work for everything we could get this evening and we managed to clear 90% of the big bed ready for planting action.
With us all swung out and forks in slightly different shapes than when we started we cleared away and run it back to base. With the endorphins kicking in the Pace was red hot and we were storming along the 3k loop with everyone holding on the injection of pace.
Top work tonight!! Next week we go to Abney to take on the one of the magnificent 7!!
Early reminder for February social on the 26th!! Few personal and GG milestones to celebrate!!
Have a great week
Smooth Running
