The GoodGym volunteers joined Pam and the local team at Coombe Wood Gardens for a lively morning of watering, transplanting, pruning, and all‑round garden graft, earning ourselves fresh tomatoes and a cool drink for our efforts on a beautiful morning just a hop, skip, and jump from Lloyd parkrun.

Coombe Wood Gardens is a much loved public park that requires ongoing maintenance. Sessions are designed to be fun with a variety of tasks each time.

These popular sessions combine an opportunity to do some physical work and also to learn about various aspects of gardening. There are a variety of tasks suitable for all ages/abilities ; sweeping, pruning, digging, weeding, planting, mulching, propagation, transplanting, watering. We also maintain a small vegetable patch where we have planted potatoes, runner beans, courgettes, tomatoes, spinach and kale (produce will be available to volunteers :)). Tools provided, no experience necessary. Gloves provided but please bring your own is you have some. Also great opportunity to meet like minded people, events so far have been filled with chat and laughter, the team usually visit the cafe after the session for a well earned cuppa.
