I arrived and promptly had quite a bad hypo so took half an hour to start, but once I did, I was working on breaking down and shovelling a lot of grit and building waste into refuse sacks.

There’s a really lovely team and community down at the old mortuary, now known as Time and Talents, so it was a real pleasure breaking a sweat and shifting a load of refuse for them in preparation of their garden renewal project.

There’s still plenty to do and hopefully next time more people will be able to join..!

This task supported
Time & Talents: Marychurch Oasis
The Marychurch Oasis project will revive and improve the garden, making it more accessible, increasing the amount of food crops we grow, boosting biodiversity and focusing more on seasonality.

At Time & Talents, we want to create a world where everyone feels part of a community - and where nobody is left out, or left behind. It is a lively, busy community organisation based in Rotherhithe, Canada Water and Bermondsey. We see a core part of our work as providing ways for people to connect and share their time and talents, including a wide range of volunteering opportunities, skills-sharing, and opportunities to socialise. We want to connect neighbours close and far, to reduce isolation and build a supportive, resilient community.
