Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katie Welford
Tonight we celebrated the mighty GoodGym Lambeth turning 4! It's been a heady four years of running and good deedery and tonight was no different. It was chuffing freezing so top marks to each and every runner who turned up ready to go.
Our lovely home Papa's Park was in need of a de-moss, so that was the task in hand. We split into two groups - one lot went off on a nice long run with John Hunter and the rest of us did a nice 1km warm up before cracking on with the job. There was some competitive tree pruning, including a very ropey pair of shears and a top team of Judy, Sarah, Alice and Emily got on with spreading some moss killer on the basketball court. Once we'd made a decent job of it, we had an Alice C takeover for a 15-minute HIIT session.
High Intensity Interval Training is what all the cool kids are doing these days and here at Lambeth you get to do it for free, outside in a child's playground. What more could you want? On the Minute Every Minute we did some explosive exercises including jumping jacks, squats, burpees and mountain climbers. It was great and hopefully today everyone hurts in just the right way.
With some stretches we went back into the marginally warmer hall to eat some celebratory cake and warm up. Here's to the next 4 Lambeth!
Papa's Park is a community playground, hall and basketball pitch. It offers low cost hire for the community to come together and play sport. Papa's is where GoodGym Lambeth meet every Tuesday evening.
