Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Cecilia D🍀 (She/her)
Valentine’s Day ❤️ usually means flowers and sweet treats — but for us, it meant woodchip and muddy trainers.
It was a cold but bright late morning session, and the dry sunshine made all the difference. Three wonderful GoodGymers met at the churchyard to join the other volunteers for a rewarding few hours of community gardening.
With Sue’s guidance, we spread woodchip, dug out stubborn alkanet, and planted English bluebell bulbs. It was especially encouraging to see that the bulbs we planted last year are already beginning to show — a lovely reminder that our efforts continue to bloom long after the task is done.
Cold fingers, warm hearts. đź’›
To finish, we were kindly invited to enjoy some delicious refreshments — hot soup, bread, cake, and plenty of warm conversation. The perfect way to wrap up a winter volunteering session.
This was my second task of the day after parkrun and marked Good Deed number 99. Yhayyy!! Nearly at the big đź’Ż!
A beautiful way to spend Valentine’s Day — spreading love in the community, one bulb at a time.
