Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Pauline Harrison
Four raring-to-go GoodGymers, six rooms waiting to be painted, and two lovely ladies from the Liverpool Somali Women's Centre.
Emma, Mat, Roz and Pauline arrived at the centre to find paint a plenty and rollers at the ready. After a quick tour of the community rooms, it was clear that this task was bigger than we had at first thought, and would need several further visits, and a lot more GoodGymers to complete.
Mat and Roz tackled the first room, which was pretty in pink...but not for long. Emma started on the bathroom, taking tired tiles to task in an effort to reach and prep the walls. Meanwhile, Pauline chose to cover up the bright orange of the kitchen...and not just because that's where the tasty snacks provided by Sahra were left.
By the end of the session, the community room, bathroom and kitchen had all received their first coat of bright, white paint. We reckoned they would all need at least one more coat, maybe two, as the original colours were so strong. Because of the size of the centre, we also realised that more runners could be accommodated, helping to get the job done.
Before leaving, Mat and Sahra made plans for our return...watch this space.
