Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Amy L (she/her)
Well done to Jenni, Steve, Rhi, Kanika and Louise, who joined me this evening for a fulfilling evening filling potholes at Holyport FC.
Most of the team met at the Coop at Shifford Crescent, where we said hellos and a big warm welcome to new member Rhi. Then we ran together to Sandringham Road, aka our track for the evening, where we blasted through two rounds of meet and retreat (complete with squats!) Then we headed on to our task location, Holyport FC.
Our task owner AND GoodGym member at Holyport FC is normally Rich, but it was his turn to put the kids to bed tonight, so it was great to see his wife Louise instead, not least because as well as stepping up as task owner and GoodGym member, she is also the purchaser of the COOKIES!
It was also great to see co-task owner Jason again. He had laid out the wheelbarrows and spades beautifully before we arrived, so we were able to get stuck into the task straight away. We filled barrows with shingle, took turns to wheel them down the lane, and then tipped the shingle into potholes, as directed by Jason.
Everyone worked hard and as the 40 minute timer ticked on my phone, we set ourselves a challenge to complete 30 barrow loads. Last time we did this task we had 10 people and we shifted 35 loads. This evening we only had 7, so we were thrilled to achieve our goal.
I have been contemplating whether our secret weapon this time was ace tourist GoodGymer Jenni visiting from Ealing, or new energy Rhi, or was it Louise replacing her husband (sorry Rich!), Kanika not having to pose for so many photos in Diya's absence (we missed you Diya!) or Steve having recovered from Covid? I think we can safely say all of the above!
We celebrated with the aforementioned cookies, eaten in luxury in 'the boardroom', before heading for home and stretches.
Well done team!
