Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Becky McWass
Due to the location of the task we met at The Black Pug, brother to the Fat Pug.
We had a lovely welcome to the venue, with a side room just for us, which was made use of by the 'early birds' who started the task early stuffing leaflets.
Todays task was to leaflet for Chase Meadows Community Centre and Raceways Events. The challenge had been laid down when the charity said we 'would never do it all'. Challenge accepted.
But first there was the 'hill' a lovely 1.5k up and over into Warwick, past all the curry houses, chinese takeaways and restaurants - a GoodGym social should be on the cards in one of these soon.
Once we arrived at Shakespeares Avenue the team split into two to take on each side of the road, some friendly rivalry and one team was storming ahead, only to be overtaken on the racing corner - plenty more houses on one side.
Within 30 minutes we had covered the whole estate plus a few shops.
Our return leg saw us stop at the top of the big hill - fear came across the GoodGym faces when we stopped at the top of a hill. BUT Becky loves a surprise so it was a 1k (slightly shorter) handicap effort with the less intense runners going off first, followed in time order of the more intense (speedy legs). The idea, to run around the block as quickly as you can without being caught. There was a good sprint finish from everyone and James appeared to lose a lung at one point. Well done James.
Massive well done to Izzy, without her we would have been very low of ladies, and Hello to new runner David, a sneaky shark in the making.....
We returned to The Black Pug, following a little stretch a few stayed for a well earned sit down and drink.
Till next week.....
Chase Meadow Community Centre is a fantastic purpose built building that serves well as a central hub for residents from Warwickshire and beyond to gather, create, learn and enjoy. With many activities for all ages.
