Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sara Brimble
Wowee guys! For the first time ever it didn't rain during a task led by me, even better we were treated to a lovely sunny evening in a garden doing good.
9 of the Greenwich gang gathered at Charlton House to head to a new part of the borough for some, Kidbrooke. We were visit a gem, the collection store of the Maritime Museum. The store houses the majority of the collection and is the place where items are cared for and conserved. We met Marianne, a member of staff from the museum who volunteers with the community garden which is situated in the grounds of the store. Marianne also used to be a fellow goodgymmer, hopefully we convinced back into the fold! The community garden has a small collective of locals, staff who tend to it and a group of SEND students who visit to maintain veg and other plants.
After a quick warm up, we made the journey through Charlton and down a quiet road found the location of our task. We quickly got to work, with Olivia watering in the greenhouse, and the rest split into Team Weeder and Team Digger.
Team Weeder cleared weeds from the various boxes and spruced up the path that led through the garden. Team Digger grabbed shovels and forks to move soil, place down a mat and then refill with the dug out soil. After much team work the task was done and the gang were feeling good and pretty fit after all of that physical labour!
The group headed back to the house and soaked in an excellent sunset. A small gang did a very quick interval session and then we said our goodbyes.
Thanks all for your hard work this week, special shout out to Sarah for doing a stellar job tail walking this week.
See you all again next week, we'll be meeting Alex in Greenwich and heading back to Charlton House.
