This week 14 runners ran 7km to sand down old furniture and get it ready for painting.
We were joined by two GG newbies: Maisie and Sally - give 'em a cheer!
After a quick intro and warm up by the Phoenix we were off on the first leg of our run. Damian lead the pack, while Nicola was our trusty back-marker.
Half-way along we paused and the speedier lot did a Run-Back to Nicola and back before we continued on our journey. We then paused at the top of Glebelands for some lunges and sprints before completing the last leg.
Jade was waiting for us at the Barnet Furniture Centre with many draws for sanding and a table for scraping. The gang tooled up with their sand paper strips, blocks, face masks and – for a lucky two – scraping devices. With 25 minutes to complete the task, the gang got to work stripping the old paint off the furniture ready for the painters to come in tomorrow and finish.
Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head out. But not before a quick photo-shoot. We split into two teams to run back to base: Damian lead the speedy group, with Jody their trusty back-marker; while me and Nicola took care of the leisurely group.
Back at base Graham treaded the gang to this week's Barnet Biscuit.
Don't forget we're all working towards the January Challenge: 100 good deeds + 800km. So far we've hit 31 good deeds and 350km. Make sure you've got Strava linked to your GG profile so that every run you do counts towards our total! We've got a Starter Session at Long Lane Pasture this Saturday at 2pm - so come along to that and get an extra good deed in! Sign up here. If you'd like to double down, Islington has a Starter Sesh at 11am, which Damian will be running from (if you fancy extra running!) and Haringey has a Starter Sesh at 11am too.
This month's Social will be in Tottenham on Thursday. Sign up here
