Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Harvey Gallagher (he/him)
This was our second week of shifting woodchip to cover the paths and clearings in the beautiful Community Orchard where mud can set in. We don't need to spread the woodchip - there are a whole bunch of young people who visit and take on that task!
There were supposed to be five of us on duty tonight to help out at the Community Orchard. In fact, a special guest joined us for most of the task - a robin! They brought some friends with them, though this one in particular (I think!) hung around with us for most of the session.
One of the best things about GoodGym is that chat. And we chatted. And chatted. When you chat, the time just flies by, and it did.
In February 2011, local children planted 21 fruit trees to form a Community Orchard in the overgrown tennis courts in the Lammas Enclosure, between Lammas and Walpole Parks. Volunteers from Ealing Transition have taken on the management of the area and preservation of natural habitats. The residents call on our own GoodGym volunteers from time to time when they have specific tasks that need extra pairs of hands.

Well done gang 👏 Happy that the robin kept you company while you were lower in numbers!
