Writes Trees for Cities,

"Trees for Cities would like to invite GoodGymers to plant trees with us!

We're hosting a free community planting day in Tredegar Square, Bow, on Saturday 14th October, to help residents green their local park.

We would love for everyone local to the area to come along and get stuck in.

There will be a free hot lunch provided, and fun activities for all ages!"

On the day: What you need to know

Please sign-up via the organiser's event page (as well as signing-up here).
The session will start at 10:00 and last several hours.
The session includes lunch.
It would be great if you can join for the duration, but if you need to join for a shorter session, that's fine. However, you're encouraged to arrive as close to 10 as possible, to ensure you get a chance to plant.
The postcode for the park is E3 5AB. (The What3Words for the event meeting point can be found here).
On arrival, let the Trees for Cities team know you've arrived (they will be in hi-vis jackets and expecting you).

Background to the event

“We will be planting 10 new trees, 80+ bulbs and in-filling hedgerows and beds in the square this October. Included in this planting will be 5 Apple and Pear trees, to create a small community orchard.

The new trees will support the Council's aim to increase canopy cover in the Borough by 10% by 2050.

The project also aims to introduce features which can add to the biodiversity value of the gardens in line with the Local Biodiversity Action Plan, and supporting the Council’s aim to contribute to the London Biodiversity Action Plan.”
