Who this task will support

HIVE Portsmouth

HIVE Portsmouth is a strategic partnership in Portsmouth consisting of a representative group of the voluntary and community sector, NHS Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group and Portsmouth City Council. We work with local people, groups and organisations in a way that recognises and nurtures the strengths of individuals, families and communities and helps to build independence and self-reliance as an alternative to a reliance on traditional services. We connect people and organisations to share, support and learn in order to meet the needs of individuals and are committed to working together with the objective of building a happier, healthier and more connected city.

Portsmouth Hive have requested volunteers to make cat wands - fabric toys to encourage cats to play and interact with human carers.

The cat wands will be delivered to Battersea Cats & Dogs home.

This is a non-sewing task - you will be shown the plaiting and knotting technique. Old t shirts or sweatshirts are ideal to use for the cat wands, so bring along an old item that can be cut up. Scissors will be provided.

We will use a table at Make for our crafting. We can use their facilities free of charge, but we should buy a coffee, cake or lunch as our 'thank you' for their hospitality.
