Help Oxford Maternity Clothes Library - Setting Up

The Oxford Maternity Clothes Library have asked for two people to help set up the library between 11am and 12 on Saturday 27th May for their May open day.

The task will include re-arranging the community centre space to make room for the open day, moving boxes and clothes rails from the shed into the library space, unpacking and arranging clothes on rails, arranging boxes of clothing items into the library space, setting up the temporary changing areas and possible sorting of new donations for the library. Sack trolleys are available and there will be some manual handling including lifting and moving boxes of clothing and moving tables and chairs.

The Oxford Maternity Clothes Library is a volunteer organisation providing good quality maternity cothes to women of all backgrounds from across the local area. Women can rent items for £3, or free to those currently unable to pay, for up to 1 year. The library stocks a range of styles and sizes to support women throughout their pregnancy and nursing period. The library stocks a wide selection of clothing from casual and work wear, to sleep and swim wear, coats and even occasion and formal wear. The library aims to make clothes available at low or not cost, saving pennies and the planet by reducing the need to buy from new, extending the usable life of items and reducing the number of items ending up in landfill. The library can also be an important resource for women across Oxford who may not have a network of friends and family who can pass on maternity and nursing wear. The library is run by volunteers, several of whom have used and supported the library during their own pregnancies, who can also help signpost services, support and resources in the local area.
