Blackberry way

Saturday 1st August

Written by Ben Foster

Steady session for Mr S. Bit by bit, we're keeping on top of weed, nettle, and bramble growth, which is great.

Today, there was some weeding of the patio and on the footpath, mowing of the lawn, and some bramble removal where possible. Hoping for some rain to properly dig out the roots soon!

Lots of heavy weeding in the other part of the garden, with nettles, weeds, and brambles removed, giving space to the mint and blackberries growing.

Managed to chop and mow a path for Mr S to get easier access to the blackberries too.

Good to see him and the dog. Very thankful for the ice cream on a sunny day too.

Low hanging fru... I mean branches ๐ŸŒณ

Saturday 1st August

Written by Ben Foster

Productive session for Mrs L using the little known rake-secateurs method for lopping tree hedge branches.

Using a rake to pull down the target branches, the secateurs did a cracking (literally in some places) job of lopping off excess that was starting to grow towards the house windows and gutters.

There was a lot of branches, so much so that once the green bin was full, there was another two bins worth left by the side. Some general weeding followed in the garden allowing Mrs L better access to the garden.

Another tree needs some attention but that will be a job for another day.

Coffee and crunch

Sunday 5th July

Written by Ben Foster

Another gardening session for Mr S. With the warm weather, everything had grown so it took a solid 90 minutes of weeding to get back to ship shape.

Brambles were removed, weeds were dug out, and grass was mowed down to give the front garden a thorough refresh.

More brambles were chopped out, while leaving those growing tasty blackberries, and more nettles were ripped out. Roots were dug out where possible and a thorough weeding of the patio was carried out.

Mr S was kind enough to provide a coffee and a chocolate bar for sustenance. Very thankful for that. Likely back regularly to keep on top of things over the warmer summer months.

Grass attack

Sunday 21st June

Written by Ben Foster

Back to help Mrs L with keeping the garden ship shape. After a couple of months, many weeds and self seeded trees had grown and the grass could be waded through, so a thorough chop back was needed ๐ŸŒฑ

The secateurs did a good job clipping back the overgrown bushes out the front and pathway, while a combination of a good flymo mower and GoodGym elbow grease dealt with a lot of the long grass, weeds, young trees, and branches, making sure not to disturb the poppy bud seeds!

90 minutes of hard graft was certainly worth it, with the garden and wild flowers now free from the tangled weeds and grass. Mrs L was very happy and I'll be back again, hopefully with some help, to chop back the trees in the backyard ๐ŸŒณ

Short chop and sides

Wednesday 10th June

Written by Ben Foster

Another gardening session for Mr S, this time tackling the remaining nettles and to aggressively chop back the hedges spilling out onto the road ๐ŸŒฑ

With the electric chopper and some rusted, but still working, shears, I made good headway on the nettles and overgrown brambles in the garden. The hedge took a bit more elbow grease, with some thick branches and hard-to-reach sections making it tricky. However, the pavement is now much more accessible and some excess was taken off the top and sides.

Mr S was a bit under the weather but he seemed much happier and pleased with the work. Fingers crossed he's feeling better soon.

More chipper

Tuesday 2nd June

Written by Ben Foster

Another productive session clearing the garden for Mr S. He was more chirpy this evening, with the dog joining briefly too despite a recent bee ๐Ÿ sting!

I tackled the overgrown hedges, brambles, nettles, and remainder of the space while Mr S mowed the area cleared last time. Lots of pulling, strimming, chopping, and mauling of the space with a few stings and scratches to show for it.

Managed to unearth a nice rose ๐ŸŒน lots of mint ๐ŸŒฑ and more plants towards the back fence that are now much more accessible. Another pile of green refuse to be collected.

More nettles and the front hedges that need tackling are another job for another day. Kind of some of the neighbours providing us with ice cream and snacks! ๐Ÿ™
