It was a bit of an unsteady start for us at the Balance Support day centre, a charity for adults with disabilities, as we couldn’t actually get in to the task! Even after scaling the gate we were foiled by a huge bolt. Just when we were about to give up, a cleaner came to our rescue and gave us access. Wasting no time John, Dylan and Paul got busy pulling nettles, excavating brambles and clearing the walkway so the service users can access the space safely. We were joined by Alice and Janet who quickly got stuck in clearing the area and before long a big difference had been made - well done team!

Our Tuesday Group Run task was back at Balance Support to help finish off the painting. They had the paint and willing volunteers from their office but there's nothing like a little GoodGym action to speed up the task in hand. We met with Fran and Lila and they showed us where a second coat of paint was needed - we grabbed rollers and brushes and got to work.
In the middle room, Claire, Petra and Jade worked as a team to do the cutting in round the window. Dave hopped on the ladder and did the cutting in at the top of the walls and Rachel rollered in between.
In the furthest room, Catherine and Laurel started the second coat of cutting in and rollering - a dream team! Pierre and Janet helped to build two office chairs and helped with all the other extra little jobs that are necessary in such a big project like this.
It was lovely to meet up again and the hour flew by. The walls looked amazing and a quick glance in the kitchen where the walls were the original mucky magnolia colour showed us how much had been done in a short amount of time. Great task and a brilliant turn out by GoodGym - thank you to everyone who helped out on such a frosty evening.

Green paint! Terrible joke, I know. Sorry/not sorry! It was a lovely day to go for a little cycle up to Balance Support and meet their staff for a big prep and paint party. I met GoodGymer's newest member, Cindy, on the doorstep of the building and we were unsure of how to get in as the main doors were well and truly locked. It took a little problem-solving but eventually we found the right door at the back and got stuck straight in.
There were a number of helpers so we all found a job, joined in and got to task. Cindy started rollering the walls and soon the horrible shade of magnolia vanished under a lovely warm pinky-white. Jane suited up in a decorator's boiler suit to protect her newly-washed GoodGym t-shirt and started cutting in around the windows, switching halfway through the session to handle another roller. I started by washing the walls down with sugar soap and eventually switching to cutting in once the dirt had gone.
After an hour and a half we had made significant progress and one of the three rooms was finished completely. What a difference! It looked so warm and inviting and well worth the time and effort spent. Well done everyone! And a big warm welcome to Cindy - hope to see you at another task soon.
We have another task on Tuesday to come back and help finish off decorating at Balance Support - please sign up if you can help!
