Karen went to Braywick Heath nurseries and spent the morning filling six packs (the pots, not the toned muscles!) with compost in preparation for the autumn plug plants being delivered. Working with one of the employees, they filled several hundred trays which are now ready to be planted up. Happily there was a large fan in place to keep them cool as they worked.

Karen and Sheila helped out at Braywick Heath Plant Nursery and were given the sad task of disposing of plants which hadn't been sold and which had succumbed to heat/dehydration/old age. We pulled out the plant labels to be used again, emptied out the pots and took all the dead plants to the compost heap. We consoled ourselves with the fact that at least they would be turned into compost and used to grow fresh plants next spring.

We were set tasks which were accomplished in the Nursery. We were introduced to the staff who were helpful and happy at work. There were two of us this time, putting plants into large black trays to be filled with water. Last task, we deadheading.
We finished at 11.30am, and then walked home. Just very glad to have helped and enjoy the atmosphere.

Laura and Karen spent a very pleasant morning at Braywick Heath Nursery. They started off putting the rather overgrown pots of vegetables into trays to make them easier to look after. Once the vegetables had been tamed they moved outside to dead head the flowers in the sun.

Laura, Karen and Sheila helped out at Braywick Plant Nurseries, potting up plug plants. It's nearing the end of this job for this season and the greenhouses are looking very full of plants ready to sell. We had the honour of potting up the last of the plants to go into 6-packs (Pelargoniums and Petunias), but also impatiens and lavender. Well done on speedy potting up, and the nursery, as ever, we're grateful for our help

Braywick Plant Nurseries needed more help with potting up their plug plants, so they can be grown up ready to sell. Didem, Karen and Sheila got a good system going, and got through several trays of plants, keeping Bob busy finding space for them on the sales benches. Great work, team!
