...so I can dump you in a hole. Ashley met Pete fashionably late (again) to help move a very heavy raised bed into place. The raised bed, made of ridiculously sturdy wood, will stand the test of time, becoming the 8th wonder of the world and probably outlasting the Great Pyramid of Giza. We also picked up some leaves and had a cup of tea.

Ashley and Pete met on a very hot Monday to help out at the Women's Centre. Work was progressing very well in the back yard with some raised beds so we concentrated on cleaning the front of weeds, thistles and ivy. We were so dedicated to the task that we forgot to take any photographs, either that or we were just talking too much. We promised to turn up next week to help with the placement of the very heavy raised beds out of the goodness of our hearts (or the promise of a chicken biryani...).

Today we helped Derby Women's Centre clear their garden, which was full of rubble, old furniture and overgrown weeds. The garden is going to be redone in June, so our job was to remove the rubbish in preparation for the renovation.
We welcomed Amy 👋 to her first task, joining Ashley, Ellen and Naomi to make a super strong team.
With weeds waist-height and rubble everywhere, we knew we had our work cut out for us! We immediately slipped into our roles with Amy on weed digging duty, Ellen and Ashley shoveling rubble into the wheelbarrow and Naomi carrying anything that wasn't nailed down! The skip soon filled up, but determined to use every inch we kept finding small gaps to squash more into, and took a bag of recycling home with us.
This was a physically demanding task, but much better than a weight lifting session or HIIT class as it had the added bonus of helping a brilliant charity that provides such important support for women in Derby.
Thank you to our superstar volunteers for all the muscle power today ... I think it'll be a restful afternoon for us all! ⭐
